The results of the 88 players at Nova Open is interesting.
(Taken from MVBrandt's post (the tourney organizer) on DakkaDakka)
Black Templars went 1-3, 1 army
14 Blood Angels went a combined 29-27, with a single 4-0, 5 x 3-1, 3 x 2-2, 4 x 1-3, 1 x 0-4
8 Chaos Space Marines went a combined 11-21, with a single 3-1, 3 x 2-2, 2 x 1-3, 2 x 0-4
3 Daemons of Chaos went a combined 9-3, with all three going 3-1
2 Dark Angels went a combined 3-5, with a 2-2 and a 1-3
1 Daemon Hunter went 0-4
7 Eldar went a combined 13-15, with a single 3-1, 4 x 2-2, and 2 x 1-3
12 Imperial Guard (originally miscounted as 11) went a combined 25-23, with 4 x 3-1, 5 x 2-2, 3 x 1-3
1 Necron went 1-3
7 Orks went a combined 16-12, with 1 x 4-0, 2 x 3-1, 2 x 2-2, 2 x 1-3
11 Space Wolves went a combined 32-12, with 3 x 4-0, 4 x 3-1, 4 x 2-2
4 Tau went a combined 7-9, with 3 x 2-2 and 1 x 1-3
3 Tyranid went a combined 3-9, with 1 each at 2-2, 1-3, 0-4
12 Vanilla Marines went a combined 22-22, with 2 x 3-1, 7 x 2-2, 2 x 1-3, 1 x 0-4
2 Witch Hunters went 3-1 and 1-3 respectively
Also a SW player won the tourney. In top 8 armies - 4 x SW, 2 x BA, 1 X Orks, 1 x Daemons. No IG in top. More Tau players than tyranid and they did better too. SW had very strong showing with the worst doing even - 2 wins and 2 losses. (I guess no draws in this tourney)

Oh the number is win-loss in case that wasn't clear. Daemons of Chaos seemed to do quite well. Does DoC usually place well in tourneys?

Well, there's only 3 Daemon players, if that 1 daemonhunter player went 4-0 instead of 0-4, would that make daemonhunters the best army? Daemons have a couple pretty good builds and are a fairly competitive but definately not a top army. Daemons are really a gimicky army, you will a daemon player do really well in one tournament, then show up to the next with the same list and similar opponents and lose all their games.

I believe the hype about the tournament format. I think it will catch on. I hope it does here.

guis: I didn't say daemons were the best army or one of the best based on 3 player's results. I merely commented that they did well in this tournament and asked whether they tend to do well or not in other tournaments in order to get a better understanding of the army's performance over many games (where you provided your points on how they tend to perform).
