Hey...
8th has brought us some new interesting common magic items, that in combinations with the respective army books, can make for some pretty amazing combos. Which ones have you found?
some ones that seem pretty awesome so far are:
fencer's blades + glittering scales + -1 to hit army book option (ie: ogre greypack pelt, or orc effigy item)... nothing like having assasins needing 6's to hit you!
the dark elf 4+ regeneration armor + the tailman that gives a 2+ ward vs. flaming attacks (so if you negate the regen it makes the save BETTER!)

I know it's a fairly simple one but a High Elf lord with Great Weapon and potion of Strength can get to S9, likely with re-rolls for a turn and still be quite highly armored. Or with the I potion to make sure you're striking before ANYTHING.

For druchii, a 10 point item on the common list leads the way: dragonhelm. Couple with the pendant, it makes the bearer nearly immune to the lore of fire with a 2+ ward and this was one of the few things that could quickly kill a pendant carrying character since it had no strength value.
My other personal favourite is the dawnstone - re-rolling armour saves for 25 points is HUGE for the armies that don't already have this.

You got to be an ogre to do this, however, I found this pretty effective last week (well not against Tommy who just trounced me before I could strike!)
trickster's helm + mawseeker = being toughness six is awesome, having the opponent have to reroll successful wounds against you = even more awesome!
