actually when you look at it, the 10 witch elves are cheaper than buying ten wracks, ten incubi, ten mandrakes, ten harliquins, one honor guard unit (6 models), 10 tactical space marines, 10 assault marines, 10 terminators...
etc. etc. etc...
we're paying this much for most of the 40k kits now... just need less models (theoretically) for 40k so it doesn't seem to hurt as much... but the new space marine prices are just as out of line for 10 models...

FYI, blood vestals from raging heroes were put forward as an alternative to witch elves, being nice sculpts and $36 per box... however upon further checking, these boxes are actually only five models... so they're actually $2 more expensive an option than the official models.

Yeah I guess its just the fact that we need so many more models in certain WHFB armies compared to 40k that we are just noticing these even more insane prices now. Still absolutely no excuse for them to be that high, especially when you consider that Witch Elves are 11ppm whereas marines are significantly more (+upgrades). Both are "troops" though so expected to be a mainstay in whatever army they are from. I just hope that IF they ever release new HE core they won't be ridiculous like that.

Also just checking some of the GW prices now on their site: 10 DE warriors for $40 10 Witch Elves for $70 10 Corsairs for $30
SOMETHING ISN'T RIGHT HERE.

Yes, they need to increase the price of warriors and corsairs to $60 ASAP to put them in line with witch elves so that the WE don't look unreasonably priced!!

Witch Elves are dual kit. Warriors are triple kit. Corsairs a single kit.
Now I understand the price differences from this standpoint... but the deltas shouldn't be near as big, like
30/35/40 would be reasonable

Doesn't matter if they are dual kit or not, apparently the Corsair box has more parts in it that the Witch Elf box. If you are considering just amount for customization etc... you STILL get more bang for your buck with the corsairs which less than half of the Witch Elf dual kit. I do agree with you that 30/35/40 would be more reasonable though.

I got my Land Speeder storm for 35 and it came with a Land Speeder and 5 scouts that are very easily transferred on to bases. (y)
Tac squads are cheaper though, you do get 10 in a box for 50 bucks.

For shiz and gigs at 2400: 4 manticores, 600 points core of choice, 3 hydras 37 models on the low end.
Toying with this concept, thoughts appreciated. Morathi (+6 to +8 casting dark) 2 x peg sorceress dark/death/shadow? Peg bsb cloak of twilight
Corsairs and dark riders core 4 rbt 3 hydra or 2 and the new beast

The new beast is pretty cool, I don't think I'd take it over a Medusa at this point though.

Medusa grts all appropriate shooting penalties. Not sure it will be efective.
