After about an hour of work tonight, I've freed up about 25% of the space we have...
As Jake had noticed, there were times where an error would take place where it would say the forum has reached it's attachment limit... it appears that proboard has a space limit of 200 MB and we were at 198... the only time we were able to post pics and bigger files was when something else got deleted (why it sometimes worked and sometimes didn't)
So I've deleted trade threads from several years ago (nothing in the past year don't worry) which freed up quite a few MB, as well as a few of the biggest picture hogs that were no longer relevant. (ie: old pics of upcoming releases that are now a year old etc.)
So we do need to work together though to make the attachments a little more efficient.
we need to limit ourselves to smaller pictures. There are a number of ways to do this. You can either just link from photobucket (ie: no space on this forum needed) or if you cannot do that, feel free to attach a picture, but edit the thing to make it a reasonable size! just shy of 1 MB - not reasonable.
to gain more space this would cost a price per month.. and I don't think that anyone wants to pay money (I don't!) so that's not happening...
I'll have to be somewhat diligent about deleting old threads, and I'm reducing the picture size limit per post...
so lets keep the sizes of attachments small - try around 200KB or less ideally... (it's easy to shrink an image, just open it in paint and reduce the size!)

Woot! However, your post title looks really funny, as if the board has commitment problems.

well whatever gets attention to the post...lol...
I should note as well I did NOT delete anyone's painting logs, even if they were really old!

Feel free to scuttle any of mine that aren't instructional and/or are over a year old.

Maybe we could do some kinda fund-raiser, like silent auction or something.. to kick-start a year`s funds for more? Second thought, I'm sure what you're saying is reasonable.
If it were easier for people to post links to pics, vs. directly uploading- that is a good idea. I make a blog, put pics there, and embed the links so the pics appear, but (I don't think that takes up space, right?)

I'm pretty sure if it's a direct link it's okay, it's just if you attach....
I'm somewhat hesitant to get in the whole monthly fee thing with proboards... I've been quite happy with their reliability for sure (for anyone who remembers the old forum, you'll remember how often that one went down!) It just seems that the issue could be better managed either by linking as you've pointed out, or by smaller attachments (250 KB or less)
I don't want to dissuade people from sharing things like painting logs and such (I do them myself!) but when well over 10 MB were tied up in a "favourite 40k image" thread... well yeah, there's some things we can do without around here... the other near 40 MB were in trade threads dating back to 2010 - 2011... so yeah...
I'll try to be diligent in trimming out some of these old issues... if anyone on here remembers any old threads they don't need anymore that might be a bit picture heavy, feel free to delete them out or send me a message with the link and I can take care of it...
we should be okay for a bit now (after all it took us several years to fill up the site!) so if we're all paying attention going forward it'll save some headaches in the future!

Just as a note, photobucket accounts are free, and have a large (I believe 1-2 GB) limit and don't advertise to you.
