Not sure how many of you do have the original DreadBall, but DreadBall Xtreme (DBX) is set to hit Kickstarter on Friday morning. Just thought I should let you know in case there may be someone interested. Also, for anyone who does have DreadBall, I'm trying to rile up the boys into playing something over the spring/summer months. If anyone has any interest, please see these topics: thelostforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=1239.0thelostforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=1240.0

DreadBall Xtreme went live less than 15 minutes ago.
The sweet spot pledges appear to be Rampage at $150, which is the equivalent of the previous Striker pledge in DreadBall, and the Frenzy pledge, which seems to be Rampage plus all unlocked add-ons for $350, which in the end might actually be worth it but there are only a 100 of these pledges available so will probably be gone soon.
All of the teams in this game are compatible with DreadBall and there are rules to make all 12 original DreadBall teams compatible with Xtreme.
The current teams in the basic box are the Convicts (8 players) and a female Asterian team (8 players) along with 5 Free Agents (MVPs), 2 sponsor models, 1 KS exclusive sponsor model, scenery and a mouse pad-like play mat for the pitch. I assume the mat is very much like the one I got in Deadzone and it's freaking great; you can bend it and fold it to store it and it still lays out flat and I haven't creased it yet....though I'm sure if you try hard enough it might. As the tiers go up you get more in the basic kit.
As I finish this it's been live for 20 minutes and is over $75,000 of their $100,000 goal. At this rate there will be a few stretch goals unlocked by the end of the day.

geez... they hit those stretch goals pretty fast! Mantic has been known to generally provide a decent bargain and provide product on time which has given them a fair amount of support both in Kickstarters and afterwards when the products go into production. I would not be surprised to see this hit near $200,000 in its first 24 hours and probably somewhere between $500,000 and $750,000 by the end of it. As it stands its already at 815 backers and $159,474 with the next stretch at $160,000. In comparison, the original DreadBall was at 298 backers and $41,500 (Funded at $20,000) in its first 24 hours and finished off at $728,985 and 2539 backers. Then Deadzone came along and as a skirmish game and not a sports game it already had a better chance out of the gate. So in its first 24 hours it hit 1297 backers and $177,190 (funded at $50,000) to finish out at $1,216,482 and 4306 backers.

As there are still 17 days to go with this Kickstarter, I'd thought I'd bang the drum a bit again just in case. Here's a link to a post by DreadBall and DreadBall Xtreme (DBX) creator, Jake Thornton, from his own blog explaining the basic differences between DreadBall and DBX. quirkworthy.com/2014/02/27/whats-the-difference-between-dreadball-and-dreadball-xtreme/As the original DreadBall (now being referred to as DBO) and DBX are compatible, Mantic has seen fit to add some of the original DreadBall teams and expansions as Add-Ons to the DBX Kickstarter. They can be obtained individually by pledging the following amounts: gcpscentral.com/dreadball-add-ons.html Or as the "DreadBall - GET IT ALL!" bundle which pretty much includes the entire contents of the first Kickstarter for $340 Add-On to any pledge. Also, for a $15 referee pledge or a $10 Add-On to any other pledge you can get the printed DreadBall Season 4 rulebook which has some updated rules for DreadBall and the stats for the four new teams (Convicts; the new Asterian team; Plague Mutants; and Mechanites) and is the DreadBall Xtreme rulebook as DBX is consider season 4 for DBO and intends to expand up to Season 6 to provide 12 full teams for DBX that can also be played in the original DreadBall.

Mantic certainly delivers with their kickstarters... you get a LOT for your pledge dollars...
I've been pretty impressed with them as a company actually, buying forgefathers and dwarfs from them... not a ton of extra options on their sprues, but crisp details and quite decent sculpts...

Mantic certainly delivers with their kickstarters... you get a LOT for your pledge dollars... They certainly do. Though some vocal pledgers would disagree with you on that right now. The problem is mostly that they are seeing the current game and not the "end game" 15 days from now. As with a lot Kickstarters, there is a bit of a midpoint rut where the pledges don't go up as quick as some would like and the doomsayers start raising their voices and crying. The original DreadBall gained almost $175,000 in its last 48 hours when it started with only $41,500 in its first 24 to end at $728,985. But people are people. I've been pretty impressed with them as a company actually, buying forge fathers and dwarfs from them... not a ton of extra options on their sprues, but crisp details and quite decent sculpts... Yeah, they certainly don't offer the customization that you get from GW and a few other companies, that is for certain. It is also a common "complaint" or "criticism" of Mantic that people talk about. Again, GW didn't exactly have all these options when they first started either. People are spoiled. lol I've put together nearly all of my original DreadBall stuff and have yet to have a problem. Their 28mm true scale makes things seem a bit small compared to GW's 28mm heroic scale, but I haven't seen the detail suffer. I also seem to be lucky and haven't had pieces caked in flash as I've heard some complain. But for the price, I'd say this young company is certainly worth my time and money. I love DreadBall and find it a fast and fun new challenge after years of Blood Bowl. I also have a large pledge from Dead Zone to get through, but that is more of my summer project.

With today's update they have added more Add-Ons.
One of which is a rubber mat version of the original DreadBall pitch for $20.
/posts
These mats are very versatile and extremely good for travelling and transporting. They can be folded, bent, and rolled without making a crease. I have a similar one as the play mat from their Dead Zone Kickstarter and I haven't been able to crease it despite it being folded all sorts of ways.
So instead of carrying around a board, this mat makes a perfect pitch to carry around.
Also all teams and MVPs from DBX are cross-compatible with DreadBall.
Current available teams are:
Convicts Kalyshi Asterians Kovossian Plague Mutants Mechanite Robots Crystallans (will be made in a transparent blue plastic) Rebs
and the Maritan DreadBall team (a la Mars Attacks) is also available again.
Soon to be available: Brokkrs (Forge Fathers) in less than $3,000 Sphyr (shark people) will be available tomorrow.
Current MVPs available
Brickbat Vognar Kailasa Asylum Deadman Davitz Brute Force (a girl in a mech suit) The Fixer Weiss (from the Speedball video games)
Next available MVP
Crypt in about $13,000
Also soon up, is a Forge Father Iron Ancestor...
