Though I am not backing these two games, it would be rude of me to not make mention of the current competition on Kickstarter for DreadBall Xtreme.
First is a game that went live yesterday and was just fully funded moments ago; Guild Ball.
Created by a British startup company, it is a skirmish game mixed with soccer with metal minis or, for an extra fee, resin. They vow to never use restic and so far consider actual plastic too expensive for their budget. The model concepts look nice and could work as minis in other games I'm sure, so take a look if you'd like.
Alternatively is the American startup game of Slaughterball.
I have to be honest, I have no real insight into this game at all and even though it has been up for several days is still struggling at about the halfway mark for funding. It seems like the basic brutal sports game and I believe it sports 4 teams out of the box with a more board game type of feel. It has some feverish backers but given projections might barely make funding by the end of the Kickstarter. However, now that Guild Ball and Xtreme have gone live, this game may suffer and hemorrhage money and backers. In fairness, here is the link:
