I just have a question about scoring units. In regards to some of the champ missions, some make mention to awarding points if u destroy your opponents highest scoring unit. If my opponent has all 3 or 4 of his troop choices cost the same (ie each unit costs 250). During the game I manage to kill 2/3 of those units. How r the points done then?
The reason I ask is I was playing a game and my friend had 3 of the same scoring unit. I had killed 2 of the units but when it came to adding the points up he said that since they where all the same points I didn't destroy the highest. (As I would need to destroy all 3 units because the surviving one would then be considered the highest scoring unit) I just wanted to see if we where doing this right.

I think normally when this happens you have to nominate one unit at the start of the game that will count as the highest scoring unit for the purpose of scoring victory points

If all the scoring units are the same value, killing one would net you the points for destroying the most expensive scoring unit as ALL fit that criteria. For the championship missions anyways...
killing all three units would be a little unfair - he has to kill one of yours and you have to kill three of his?

Ok thank you. I really appreciate the clarification. It helps me a lot. It would have made the difference of a draw or win in that case.

I thought I remembered having to nominate a unit at the start of the game....that was how we did it in ours. That way both players are on the same page in terms of having to kill/protect a single unit to get the bonus, rather than having the choice of 1 of 3 or 4 over the course of the game...

If people decide to play something a different way between them before the game starts that's one thing... saying afterwards "oh you didn't kill ALL my scoring units so you don't get the point" is another...

Very true. I just want to confirm that the official way is "any one of the equal-value units during gameplay" rather than "select one of the three units and clearly nominate it before play" for my own future reference. Might as well play things the way they're intended, and it changes the strategy on getting that one quite a bit!

On giving it some more thought, I think the fairest way would actually be the select one of the three units and nominate one... that way you're only having to protect one unit, just like your opponent and it doesn't give you a disadvantage either... so yeah scratch what I said, and go with Matt's interpretation (which the more that I think about it, I think I actually told some people to do it that way in the past)... I'll make sure the missions are updated with this clause in it so it keeps things nice and clear...

I have to agree that does sound like the fairest way of doing it. I appreciate you guys clearing this up for me. It will make a big difference.
