Oddly true.
Yet, buying two (or more) of every regular ship available is still quite affordable than most other games.

Yeah, it's actually pretty easy to get quite the collection in a very short period of time, due in part to the low cost... $15 for a new ship and a bunch of pilots is pretty significant when most lists are 3-5 ships total!

The most ships I've ever put in a list so far has been four. Not bad really...even though I own many, many, many more

I have yet to play since Wave 4 came out. Those Z-95's are pretty cheap on points and certainly spread out the guns. I may pick up a couple extra to try some kind of mini swarm.
You better get practicing with your list, Shannon, cause even I'm surprised how quickly this tournament is coming.

I think I'm going to test out as my four ship imperials:
Firespray with Krassis Trelix and heavy laser cannon
Tie interceptor - Soontir Fel with push the limit and stealth device
Academy pilot
Academy pilot

That's a very decent and viable list.
Soontir with a popular build that can act as a decent flanker.
Krassis with the HLC making full use of his pilot ability as well as adding that rear arc to ward off pursuers and potential Phantoms.
And the two Academy pilots give you support, potential blockers, harassers, and someone to cover the Firespray's blind spots.
I actually love it.

Thanks! X-wing is actually the game I have the most difficult time deciding what to play... A few points here or there really changes the whole list

The game is quite easy to learn but can be difficult to master.
I've always contemplated if it's better to grab some upgrades or get an extra ship shoehorned in. I build several lists a week cause it's just so easy but rarely get the time to try any of them.

tried the list today and it worked out quite well... the academies died of course but who cares about them Soontir fel is amazing with push the limit... he's definitely in the list for sure... I couldn't really make good use of Krassius' abilty as we got tangled up close within a very short period of time... was considering dropping the two academies and Soontir's stealth device for Captain Jonus with concussion missiles... keeps me at 99 points for initiative, and makes Krassius reroll up to three dice if need be as long as he hangs out with the bomber so trade two squishy targets for one solid one (same hull value) who buffs my buddy, and adds one round of concussions as well for a long range softening up before engagement. but three ship lists for imperials makes me nervous (well unless they're three bounty hunters )

Bombers do require some concentrated fire to knock out. I know in that last 3 on 3 game I played the bombers won the Empire the day as we just didn't have the steam after we tore through the Fighters.
Besides, it is more how you fly than what you fly. Just get the practice in so you know how to keep the ships together and take advantage of that flexible Firespray.
