Hey Guys,
Im starting a IG army and I would like to know what you guys think about Deathstrike tank. Also I would like to know what you guys think for 3 good heavy support choice in 1850 list.
My idea was Vanquisher with lascannon and commander Pask for anti-tank... demolisher with plasma cannon sponsor for anti-troops/tank if necessary and deathstrike to scare my opponant and maybe get lucky...

From games and games and games played against an Imperial guard tank loving foe I have 4 major pieces of advice. 1. The Vanquisher is very very good at its job, and is otherwise totally useless if not presented with good armour saturation to shoot at 2. The Executioner (plasma turret) with plasma or heavy bolter sponsons rips appart infantry (possible 5 S7 AP2 templates on 1 squad), plus it outranges the demonlisher 3. Sponsons are good but....if you like moving they are next to useless as you only really ever get to fire 1 of them, and that is only if you have decent line of sight to something 4. The Deathstrike is cool in that it worries people alot, but is very unreliable as a true weapon, however from the same kit you can built a Manticore, which is awesome.
As well the Hydra flak cannon in a battery of 2 or 3 is very handy

I agree on you with Vanquisher... Can be very useless if you are playing horde army but most of time you will play mech army so with commander rusk can be a very good choice I think hitting on 3 with lascannon and vanquisher cannon its a good anti-tank...
For executioner I will love to have one but it's so expensive and I think it's little bit overkill... I prefer having less firepower with demolisher but having option to destroy tank if I need it...
I will need to test Deathstrike... I really doubt but if you stay in cover and pop smoke in good timing you can end up firing second or third turn if you are lucky and kill hard space marine unit that you need to kill or kill bunch of horde unit if you play like orcs with 200 models....but I'm not sure...

The key to remember if you are running a normal guard army is that you are playing with a gun line. That means you normally have a couple turns of shooting, then the enemy reaches your line and if you haven't killed enough, you lose. To this end, I feel the manticore is a better choice than the deathstrike because it front loads the game instead of back loads.
