Well Soontir Fel still isn't in (grrrr fantasy flight why you hate me so?) and as I bought Imperial Aces and not the actual interceptor kit (silly me thinking all the pilots would be in the big double box) looks like I've got to rethink my list...
All those push the limit shenanigans end pretty quick though as soon as the falcon or any turret ship hits the table anyways, but I thought a three ship list would be cool.
I've tested out:
Krassis with HLC
Vader with Cluster missiles
Jonus with munitions failsafe and concussion missiles
thought it was a tanky list with lots of ordnance... sadly once that ordnance fires it's got a mere 8 attack dice per turn, so initially it does quite a bit of damage, but struggles in the end game, and other than buffing secondaries, Jonus really doesn't do much on his own... so pretty unsure about this one. 21 hull/shield is pretty decent for empire, especially concentrated in three ships
next I tried:
Kath Scarlet, seismic charge
Carnor Jax - push the limit, stealth device
Kir Kanos - stealth device
This worked out alright, even against a falcon. The ability to survive the first salvo relatively unscathed and drop a bomb into the big tangle that inevitably occurs is nice. However those interceptors are just as fragile as a regular tie fighter, so han solo pushed them pretty badly before he finally dropped... I'm getting to be a fan of kath though, the ability to give stress out is nice.
Next up on the thought process is going to be this one:
Kath Scarlet
Carnor Jax - push the limit
Howlrunner
Night beast
the idea is adding a fourth ship spreads out the damage and angles of attack. Kath can hand out stress, Carnor takes away your actions, howlrunner buffs his friends, and night beast can get a free focus after barrel rolling or evading if he goes green (kind of a poor man's push the limit). 10 attack dice is fairly average, 19 hull/shield is fairly good for empire
