Could someone tell me how many points a regular game is? Or maybe how many points a tournament is.
Thanks

100 points is tournament standard... and casual standard too... when I just started out we played a core set and it was balanced and fun (and no where near 100 points!)... then built up from there
always buy a core set, it has all the templates, asteroids, counters, damage cards, dice and three ships/lots of pilots for $40... as both Kayden and I were going to play I bought two... which gives two xwings and 4 tie fighters, which is the beginning of a good collection (and every player needs their own templates, damage deck etc. anyways so I kind of had to!)
then pretty much 3-4 other ships of whatever faction you want to play and you're totally set depending on how you want to go. I've played against lots of lists that were only three ships total, and didn't contain either tie fighters or x-wings. Pretty much any ship you want to play can work. The balance in this game is extremely well thought out. Every ship has a counter, so trick style lists have a counter. Big ships can be blown up by little ships... you can play with upgrades or without (my tournament list from this weekend which did quite well day one for example had ZERO upgrade cards in it... just base guys)
I love my 40k as everyone knows, but when I want to play straight up tactics it's x-wing all the way... it just doesn't have the hobby/painting side that 40k does

Even if just getting in by yourself, two core sets is a great way to start in general.
Do you know what faction catches your eye more? Or do you have any favourite ships?
