So for those who don't know the makers of Infinity are putting out a third edition of the core rules. What does this mean? Well Human Sphere and Paradiso are still very much relevant. This new edition is meant to streamline the system and make things easier to understand. To that end there will be easy to reference charts, instead of flipping through the books for rules, and changes to certain rules so that they fall in line with other abilities.
It should be released in the final quarter of this year and I would definitely suggest giving it a look if you've been interested in Infinity before, but were put off by the rulebooks poor organization and various small rules. For long time players there are a lot of fixes that I'm personally looking forward too and still maintains the core system that we all enjoy.

I recommend one Friday a month for Infinity. Maybe do a painting challenge for it too. Start in January and paint 300 points by July.

Fair enough, I would like to wait for the new edition to come out though. There's some rumours floating around about a few new started boxes being launched as well. Not to mention Operation Ice Storm is coming out soon as well.

I've been watching batreps from Miniwargaming's YouTube channel for this game.
I have admit I think it's quite interesting, and seems quite fast.
I only wish I had more time to actually play anything let alone get into this.
I may pick up a few models to paint and we'll see what happens from there.

I believe Operation Ice Storm has already shown up at Nexus. If it's not there, ask someone working there about it.

I believe Operation Ice Storm has already shown up at Nexus. If it's not there, ask someone working there about it. Unfortunately Nexus isn't my "local" gaming store. Or else I'd come down and watch some of you guys play and what not. Normally I game in Trenton, though that isn't entirely local to me either. But no one there plays Infinity to my knowledge. The closest game store for me is the one near my work in Toronto and according to their website they have Operation Icestorm in stock. Is that the third edition rules?

Cool, no problem. If you're super patient they will have all the new rules up in 2015 xP

2015!!!!
Dear gawds man, that's a whole month and a half away!
I can't wait that long! I want instant gratification NOW!!
I've been really tempted by the look of the Nomads. Intruders, the cats, the Geckos and Salamanders and what not.
What's the standard play area size for a game?

Standard play area is a 4'x 4' table. Include a good bit of terrain, and try to make sure you can't see your opponent's deployment zones from yours.

Thank you.
I have noticed the large amount of terrain used in the games I've watched on YouTube.
Miniwargaming also has a tendency to have the terrain running diagonally across the board instead of from right to left in straight lines. But given how fast casualties can be wracked up it is obvious why the cover is more dense than most games I have played - because it is needed.
I have 4 of the 2 by 2 mats from Mantic's Deadzone kickstarter and a bunch of their click tile terrain. Once I get some time in the coming weeks I'll read through the rules and try some stuff out with proxies.
Like I mentioned previously, I don't get a lot of time to game any more so I just want to make sure I really enjoy stuff before jumping in.
Perhaps I'll look into that store by my work to speak with some of their community.

I also like running the terrain in diagonals as opposed to a normal grid. It breaks up the fire lanes a bit more and gives a bit more working space around fire lanes instead of neatly sectioning off areas.

I would agree to that.
The batreps I've seen are slightly edited and run between 30 to 40 minutes.
How long does a usual game last?
