For any high-PS PtL Interceptor pilots looking for a first turn advantage: It's pretty straightforward. The key is lining up 2 range bands to the left or right of the opponent's ship you want to attack first round. With a straight-5, boost, and roll, you will be firing at your target without receiving return fire... unless they move straight-1/2 or soft turn into you. In that case, you can simply choose not to push the limit, and stay put with your straight-5. When used with 2+ interceptors, perhaps one on each side, this sort of aggressive early-game movement forces some difficult decisions on your opponent from the get-go. Using this maneuver with multiple interceptors flying close together, even if your opponent guesses right, may allow you to bring more guns to bear for an early game advantage as well. Additionally, if you opponent sees you line up this way and knows about the maneuver, you can influence them to play cautiously or predictably (which may or may not be my motivation for sharing ).

Just MSPaint, heh. I'll post the template in another thread now. It's handy to print the template out, laminate it, and use dry/wet-erase markers to plan out plays.
