- Phantom (PS9 Whisper, veteran instincts, gunner, fire control, advanced cloaking device) = 44 - Interceptor (PS8 Carnor Jax, push the limit) = 29 - TIE Fighter (PS1 academy) = 12 - TIE Fighter (PS1 academy) = 12
The idea of the list is pretty simple: disrupt the opponent's ships by both blocking with the academy TIEs and denying token usage with Jax. Whisper is set up efficiently to guarantee her bonus focus token for doing damage. The list tops out at 97 points to pretty much guarantee initiative.
Although the list relies on Whisper primarily to do damage, the focus of the list is certainly Carnor Jax. Jax boost and rolls with ptl as necessary to fly to the sides or even the rear of enemy ships to deny them effective shooting or defence.
The TIEs, although effective blockers, have a primary role in clearing lanes for Jax to get in position. Executing set plays - with an emphasis on asteroid placement - make this possible.
The key to success is keeping Jax alive. If Jax dies, Whisper dies, and then there's basically nothing left. It's worth mentioning that for the most part, even ships that have used veteran instincts to raise their PS to 10-11 aren't usually so worrying, as they've used their talent on something that hasn't augmented their offensive potential. Roark and a B-Wing with heavy laser cannon would be the primary concern (or something equivalent) and Roark in that case would have to become a priority target.

interesting list... seems like it would definitely take a lot of finesse to fly properly, given you're really relying on whisper and jax solely... they can definitely be so difficult to get a grip on for sure...

For sure. Truth be told, the original list synergized Whisper with Jax more. Whisper had a sensor jammer instead of fire control (and rebel captive instead of gunner) which made her obscenely difficult to damage when the opponents were near Jax.
In the end I went with what I consider the most consistent damage dealing setup, though. I'm still not entirely convinced which is best, though.
