only two troop units of five? (not that I have near the experience to question your 40k listbuilding mind you)
so do you normally go for the table or contest in an objective game? Or given all that armor do people generally ignore the scouts?

Teehee. I like it, though I think it's going to be one of those lists that either goes off or goes home depending on what it's fighting. 2 5 man troops choices kinda harms your odds in objective games, but I think this is one of those armies that shoots for a table of the opponent.
I'm a little concerned that there are no melta weapons there. Possibly consider a multi melta on a couple of the regular dreads?

Ya it pretty much goes for the table since it can't hope to hold. Just wanted to go as wacky & over the top as I could since the codex allows for it As for melta, forgot that not everyone knows all 3 Furioso's come with meltaguns. I was thinking of going multimelta on the other 3 dreads but figured they are likely to make it close enough to be that effective...and figured 4 rending shots at 24" is better than 1 S8 at 24"

This is difinitly a list that you need to table but it has the potential to do it... I agree with you that Assaul cannon is better if your normal Dread are not in Drop Pod... Do you think 1 baal fith the flamer instead of assault cannon would be better?

Only downside to the all Flame Baal is you gotta get really close (which puts you in melta & CC range) and it has no vehicle-killing potential unless you get lucky and get rear armour. With the assault cannons it gives me ranged killing power, possible LR penetration (max rending is a 15).
Also I can stay back if need be and whitle down units before moving in for the hvy flamers. The Flamestorm requires you to rush in to be effective.
I will likely try the list out with a mix at some point, but for now the Assault Cannons better fit the role I have for the Baals

Yeah I have always use Baal with Assault cannon heavy bolter its really nice but whats nice about the flamer one is if you outflank and move 12 flamer marine no cover they all die... I think they are both very good depends what you prefer in your still of play.

I think they are both very good depends what you prefer in your still of play. As Randy said, that leaves it very open to be melta'd/cc'd by another unit the next turn. That said, if it gets in close off the sides like that it can draw attention away from the dreads. I always like having at least one outflanking unit in my army...forces my foe more into the middle and bunches them up.

My intention is to outflank at least 1 if not 2 of the Baals. Want at least 1 on the board to add another target for my opponent since I need as many as I can get so I don't get wiped out too quickly.
With the Flamestorm outflank you have to hope your opponent left something close enough to the side to make it viable. No targets and it's a wasted turn of shooting but still a distraction.
An Assault Cannon would still likely have range on something, and if close enough to the sides, able to use the hvy flamers as well.

Yeah for sure your flamestorm baal is open to melta or cc but if he gets one entire unit before getting a melta shoot on next turn (if there is one near) instead of one of your furioso Im good with that... because my 3 other furioso (im talking about this list) are still up and going to cc... and like you said Matt it force your opponent to stay in middle... if hes doing that and you have no option move 18 and smoke... but again it depends on your tactic and how you like to play.
