Thanks again to Shannon and Tommy for introducing the Armies of Arcana game format. I would be interested in playing this type of game again! Dwarves with a wizard, troops on boars, rams or bears. Very Kool!! I think I will try and find a copy of the rule book, though. I would encourage others to give this format a try and check out the forum discussion link. rajdhillon.forumup.ca/?mforum=rajdhillon

The balanced game design, and ability to make whatever unit you want using the same forumula that all the existing units use (to retain balance!) is what interests me in the system.... It plays similar enough to Warhammer that it's not too difficult to pick up, yet you don't feel like you're trounced just because you brought the wrong army to the table! (ie: tomb kings, wood elves, ogres all have the same chance as the rest) There was ALOT of give and take with the game last night, and it just seems to be a more balanced system overall... warmachines are nasty, but only being able to fire every other turn certainly drops their power level considerably... when you can set spears and other long weapons to take a charge, suddenly everyone has ASF for a round, making that thunderous charge actually possible... Although I'm not nearly as well versed in the rules as Tommy, there's just some stuff that makes sense... crumble is not so devastating that you lose one combat and your undead army falls to dust (although my undead army was pretty wiped out by the end, at least it wasn't from stupid combat res... I got to fight!). combat resolution being kind of an increasingly difficult thing as the fight progresses is kind of a cool idea - troops getting worn down to the point where they just can't do it anymore. "fearsome" is a pretty good mechanic - not the overwhelming autobreak of 7th WFB or the now useless rerollable test of 8th.... lots of interesting stuff that I definitely want to explore more if others are willing to try it out!
