Mike and Ali spoke to me today about wanting to move the posts from this forum onto their Nexus website forum, and thus having their site be the main community site.
As I don't speak for the entire community here, (as in I only speak for myself) I thought I would post that proposal and have a venue for people to speak about their opinion on this matter, and any questions/concerns they would have with that. If people feel more comfortable sending me a private message rather than post publicly that's fine too.
Big decision, so have your say. I have my own thoughts on the matter, but as I've said, I don't speak for anyone but myself.

I like the idea of having a single site to visit for the entire local gaming community. For me, I think the main benefit would be arranging matches so when I posted to do so, I wouldn't have to do so on two or three sites. With one site, I could expect anyone interested to see it, so such a change would be beneficial that way.
If there was a poll, I would vote to amalgamate.

The only problem I could see is anyone who uses the proboards app. But that's minor.
Well unless there are any differences in servers and other stuff. Like space for pics and such

I have no trouble with this option as I was honestly unaware that they had their own forums.
However, what is their opinion in regard to mentioning stores that are not their own.

To answer the above few questions as best as I'm aware:
- it's a different style of forum, feel free to check it out on the Nexus website for a look. Generally appears less graphic, and as Jason mentioned, the app thing if people have that isn't part of it. - As far as space for pictures I'm not sure how much, it would depend on their IP package of course. - other stores? Well I'm not going to say I know for certain but if I had to guess how it would roll, this would be Kingston Gaming Nexus centric, given it's their website. - I am also not sure if the trade depot is part of the equation, as it is not a board there currently. - Nexus has had their own forums several times over the past several years, it's generally part of their website package (both new version and the old ones they've had). At one point this forum was actually completely embedded as a link in their website, however they've chosen not to do so in their current iteration... I'm not exactly sure why the change, I'm assuming it's part of the new website's package. - to Canex's point - there isn't actually several sites now to post things at... we were until very, very recently, linked in the Nexus website. They have changed this and are adding a forum of their own again, and they've added more Facebook presence as well. Until this proposed change the site to visit (both on the Nexus site and directly) was this one.

The only thing I would then be worried about is the current autonomy.
I remember when GW started their own forums. Anyone remember that fiasco?
Most might not even remember. But the second anyone spoke out against GW or had a differing opinion than theirs threads were locked or outright deleated, accounts blocked, then finally...well, where are those GW forums now?
This site represents a community, not a store. Sure, the majority may play at one particular store but that doesn't exactly make this a Nexus site.
Overall though, I have no real issue with it as long as things don't change that much in how it is run.

I wouldn't mind making a switch at all, as long as:
-We can still have the Trade Depot, this is an expensive hobby and it's nice to be able to get some items cheap, and sell models we don't use.
-I'd also prefer not to have to sign up for another account, except that's just me being lazy...

Agrippa - it actually would no longer be run by Tommy and I, it would be run by Ali, so I cannot really speak to what will happen about how things would run or what direction things would go. I'm just guessing.
Garrett- you would need to make another account as it is completely separate from Proboards. Trade forum = not likely.

Lightened workload at the cost of what though? The trade depot has already been brought up but what about censoring? Right now, we can post leaked photos of upcoming releases because as far as GW or any other company is concerned; we’re just a bunch of guys talking about models & the hobby. If the forum migrates to the store, we may not have that same freedom as I imagine said companies will have leverage over the store to have them remove offending posts. I realize that everyone here does a pretty good job of keeping language clean, but again, the store’s forums will reflect the store which is open to all ages. Right now, we don’t have to be as careful with our language because we’re again, not affiliated with a business required to cater to all audiences and age groups; if a kid stumbles onto the forums and found a photo from the leaked TGG2 kickstarter with their NSFW elves and demon ladies, a parent might be really offended that their child had access to that through the portal of the store’s website.
I’m not trying to sound alarmist, but these are things we need to seriously weight before making a decision.

Thats true. Never thought of the liability and such.
The more I think about it the more I like the forum the way it is. Why can't they have both is your still willing to run it. Lol
Yes I want my cake and eat it too. (Never understood that you have cake to eat it lol)

I am more than still willing to run it... no worries there...lol I've been having some discussions with some of the moderators here and a few of the "old guard" (lol if we can be called that) have talked to me through messages as well. I think at this point I'm fairly aware of some concerns that have been raised to me which is leading me to a decision that I feel comfortable with. Regardless I support Kingston Gaming Nexus 100%, and I'm thankful for their support and encouragement of all our hobbies and the services they provide us. I'm also very thankful to be part of a community where I can ask for honest and direct feedback and totally get that without hesitation, and with alot of support... thanks

What Voodoo has said has sparked a memory. What was the YouTube channel that started affiliating itself with a store but then had to separate because GW was threatening to sanction the store for leaked information on the associated YouTube channel? I believe it was a British store/channel. As he indicates, Nexus could find itself in the same boat if it becomes directly associated with a forum. Nexus will have to police the forums continuously to prevent any material that surfaces which could lead the store into having its license pulled by GW. *** Edit: Google-Fu indicates it was Wayland Games and Beasts of War that needed to disassociate themselves to avoid angering GW.

I agree with Voodoo on this ....be careful of what may be lost....I support Nexus to the best of my ability and am hoping the store can achieve even greater success.

After much deliberation both public and private, we've decided to remain an independent entity.
thanks to all for their feedback and support in this. I wanted to make sure that it was as transparent a process as possible.
