IF GW expected us to use Wounds = are points, than we notice what Tommy was saying about disparity between certain units. IF they expected us to use Wounds, why the disparity?
PROFIT THEORIES
1. MARKET SATURATION: there's a lot of these units out there, so they won't sell much even if they are any good
A. Starter set models- Slaves/Clanrats, Swordmasters, Goblins, Bret Knights, Saurus, etc
B. Good stuff people have all bought (i.e. Warp-lightning Cannon, & more that hurt to mention, so I won't)
C. Good-looking models- Doombull, why you so bad if W = points cost.. (but are we really surprised? Beastmen)
2. CREATING DEMAND: POWER IN-GAME
A. Nagash- creates a draw for the small 2-army faction, one of which has been incredibly weak leading up to now. He also raises the dead- and was so powerful I'm not going to lie, it got me thinking!
B. Other new, mass-produced sets that people otherwise wouldn't have any special motive/incentive to buy- these would be the special forces, that people may have some of, or could have more of but were indifferent: Phoenix Guard, Plague Monks, I'm sure there's lots more you can fill in. End times models are now in the same boat, with no actual books out there, so they are kept powerful.
3. IP MOTIVATIONS
A. They need to drop off older models as they transition to new ones, new look
B. this means 'killing' older models
C. Ideally this starts with the over-saturated ones mentioned, as they're never going to sell/ppl have so many; giving them bad rules releases people's love for them. They can keep them in the Warscroll Compendiums, but eventually discontinued like Bret Knights & many other models if you look online!
D. They replace with new & better entries, which sells new models, and support new IP i.e. Orruk, Seraphon, etc
