Looking at bringing the woodies out for this Sunday since the Brets were too powerful in Trenton ;D Please LMK what you think of the following list:
Core: 4 units of archers 3 units of 15 x dryads
Special: 2 units of 3 treekin 2 units of 5 wild riders
Rare: 2 x Great eagles
Characters: 4th level wizard (lore of life), BSB & branchwraith with cluster for +1 DD
I am considering dropping one unit of treekin and the eagles for a treeman since it will give +1 comp (no double rare) and at least something in the army with S6.

I'd probably either go with the treeman myself, but that's just me (I really like the big tree)
no eternal guard?

.... looks like a comp of 7... 8 with a backstory.... 9 if you don't duplicate rares.... -5 because you've beaten the tournament organizer too much and he's a petty petty man.... (only kidding of course)

(only kidding of course) I hope he is not too petty to loan me the wizard, some dyrads and archers since I don't have quite enough myself at the moment ;D

I think thats the first time I have ever seen "Wood Elves" and "For the win" together in a sentence.

I think thats the first time I have ever seen "Wood Elves" and "For the win" together in a sentence. It is right up there with "Ogres for the win" in terms of pop culture sayings ;D Mind, Shannon's ogre deathstart did crush all his opponents down in Trenton not too long ago!!

Nic's "All Woodies" Elf army did very well in Trenton. My dwarves got swarmed on turn two, with two units x20 dryads followed by treekin. Now, granted my dice abondoned my somewhere between Kingston and Trenton on the way to the tournament in the snow storm (and those that did stick around met the same fate on the way back home). I found it difficult to deal with the large fear and terror causing skirmishing units, all with high initative, multiple attacks and at least T4. Seemed like a pretty good combo to me.

Yes, your dice did abandon you and in that scenario, I believe you started only 12" apart. With a full 24" and reasonable dice [you know, the kind you own in your dreams ;D ] you would really lay a beating on the army before it reached you.

The more I've seen wood elves play in 8th (I've not brought them out alot myself) dryads + glade guard + lore of life wizard with the wand of wych elm seems to be a pretty good combo...
....just so long as you don't take some of the other choices (warhawk riders, waywatchers, glade riders, even wild riders to some extent) you can make a fairly solid list..
Hey Frank - don't forget that flaming banner!

Email sent with the new list of fire!! Just have to be careful though, the dryads, treekin and treeman don't appreciate all the jokes the glade guard are making about "kindling" ;D
