Sources who spoke to BoLS on condition of anonymity reported the following:
Sequel to Betrayal at Calth contents:
Assault squad sprue featuring packs and close combat weapons.
Legion Heavy Support squad sprue with a variety of heavy weapons.
Mk. IV Tactical sprues continue their appearance.
2 new Heroes are included.
Imperial Fists are involved in some manner.
Uses the same Betrayal at Calth ruleset.

I'm wondering if anyone is actually playing Betrayal at Calth. I'm sure plenty of people bought it but I haven't heard a thing if the rules are fun or not.
Is it an intro to 30k? A watered down 40k set in the past? Or something different all together?

I've toyed around with the rules very briefly, it's very much its own beast - being hex-based and very focused on positioning and achieving a single goal per mission it does have a very boardgame feel, but not as restrictive as Space Hulk - there's still such things as save rolls and whatnot. Dicewise the mechanic is more X-wing. Make a certain number of shots looking for Hit or Critical symbols, any weapon special effects are triggered on the Crit. Saves are made based on a defense stat with Shield results cancelling out hits. Interesting bit is that there are no wounds carried over on a model outside of damaging the dread - they're either dealt enough damage to be destroyed by an attack, or not - If I do 1 damage to a 2 Stamina model, it's straight up ignored.
The rules come with a bunch of mini scenarios that seem pretty cool - it looks like it's a free enough rule set that you could just put together your own map and stick models on it and fight it out, but it's definitely not a "Tabletop game" equivalent in that sense. I'd say it's worth trying out honestly, but it's very much a different beast.
Also, Thumbs up for expanded Heresy line!

Thanks for the quick review Matt; I might just have a look at it one day.

You can find some people playing it on YouTube which might give you an idea as to how it works.

from Faeit:
"Horus Heresy range Will be starting up this April and May, with boxes labeled 30k and 40k. Additional information on how the Mechanicum will carry over into the new range as well.
Thank you Squiggly for keeping us up-to-date.

Natfka;
HH range should kick off in the spring. April-May time. As you already know the Calth stuff will kickstart the range, with boxes labelled for 30k and 40k.
The plastic Mechanicum stuff was intended to work over as part of the core Heresy too.
So I suspect the Mechanicum stuff will get a repack alongside the Heresy releases, when they're released this spring. as the Mechanicum range. Rather than Cult Mech. and Skitarri. The Calth kits aren't exactly a "range" on there own."
