That's 500CAD in razorbacks in that first list. That's a lot of money for free transports!

So I'm not totally surprised that the finals were eldar v eldar. The top 8 were 3x Eldar, 2x Marine, 2x Cron, 1x demons which did surprise me as no Tau were about to crack the top 8...
felt it was some what odd that both Forge world Wraith Knights were the Skathach Wraightknight: 2 deathshrouds, scatter laser 330. So the Wrap spider version seems to be the favorite over the infernal one. Also not a shock that Warp spiders with their insane amount of mobility won out. Bring 45 models with solid weapons that can 36" a turn BEFORE you start shooting at them is huge in the maelstrom games.
Overall very cool. Good to see Demons are still in the mix with some of their lists, as well as a non wraith necron!

Luckily I'm sure the majority of the field wasn't lists like these... otherwise that would be a pretty unfun tourney to attend...lol
I'm surprised Tau didn't make the top 8 .....and also no knights / admech at all - surprising given their prevalence last year! I mean war convo wasn't comped at all by ITC - I'm surprised there wasn't someone running the "I get everything for free" lists.
I honestly don't know how that warp spider list (in the hands of a competent player) can be beat. Even returning champ Nayden - running a pretty rough eldar list himself - was only able to losing tie it.

ya in the maelstrom were its all about moving around the table quickly the Eldar have the edge from their bikes. Then depending on how you play it there were warp spiders, swooping hawks to grab up objectives with their ability to just be where you need them.
Ya weirdly no Knights, but I do see how all the top lists could easily deal with them. The was convo is weird tho. They might have the same issue the Tau would have at ITC were the army is good but the mobility of troops is some what limiting. Both armies have great offense and solid defense but not that be every where at once.

I think you're right... when it comes to ITC events, you can't really win big (top spots) without being able to get both primary and maelstrom. Getting maelstrom points without being highly mobile is nigh impossible, and given these big tourney games never go to Turn 5-6 normally, someone getting a big maelstrom lead early is pretty much game over for your chances at a top spot, even if you score primary, as you've just lost half the points for the game!
explains battle company, eldar and wraith-crons getting up there, as they have the mobility, scoring and durability to get those maelstrom points.
that living tomb cron list though... hats off to that guy for getting that far with that list!

War Convo is brutal in some ways, but honestly just isn't tough enough. Even though you're getting a ton of free weapons and gadgets, you have nothing in the way of Transports and a lot of very fragile models on foot with short-ish range. There's a reason you never see non-Convocation Ad-Mech - the stuff in the book is expensive and fragile, and kinda relies on the formation to pull even. Don't get me wrong, its disgusting against average lists, but it really isn't on the same page as most topend armies. Eldar mobility, Tau range/ignores cover and Marine pod strikes or transport spam crushes it.
