I thought I'd kind of start keeping track of some of my strategy points I've developed for running my Dread Mob to help with my long term success with the list.
Current Army Victory Stats
4 Wins, 3 Losses, 0 Ties
So I guess I will start with some of my misconceptions from my initial strategy:
-Stompa should never be put into combat unless it's a DIRE situation or for smacking around vehicles since he generally can one round vehicles thanks to stomps. His shooting is far more volatile than his close combat, and in reality a Deff Dread is as lethal as him in close combat but at a better initiative, and a morkanaught is more lethal at a better initiative against vehicles (AP1 instead of 2). Yes he has stomps that could just remove models from the table, but they're totally random and unreliable against infantry.
-Rokkit Launchas were mostly a waste on the Kans, more often than not they don't do anything for me, in future versions of the list I may drop my Mega Force Field for a Kustom Force Field and the eavy armour to put more grotzookas on the table. They can still glance light armour and absolutely devastate infantry. Alternatively going with big Shootas on them gives me more shots without spending points, and a better range.
-Clump, clump, clump. This army can really do well at the long play. Once the major anti vehicle threats get knocked out I can move around and do my thing much slower without rushing to get places and remove models. This means I can afford to keep my units together in two wings led by morkanauts to keep my invul going, plus a stompa wandering around doing his own thing. This changes from what I used to do which is to start splitting up around turn 2 or 3, there's no need for it and it just allows my army to crumble much faster.
-Don't wait for the Waaagh just because not everyone will benefit from it. Using a Waaagh to make sure you get rid of one major threat is more important than using it to force everyone into combat despite what's happening elsewhere on the table. But also don't waste the Waaagh. Almost the whole army has ere we go so 7 inch charges are much safer than they used to be.
That's about all the thoughts i have so far. Stay tuned for more.
