I'm not even a little surprised. Summoning factory tacked onto a massive pile of artillery that slows your opponent down like crazy and the ability to remove 2-3 tanks a turn from Rapiers alone is going to punish anything on the table. Even Buzzgobs Stompa would crash and burn turn 1 to that.

Man, I just discovered the stuff you could do with that book a week ago. A friend is playing them, albeit in a much much tamer form, but it's just dirty the amount of blasts they can put out.

Yep, the ordnance can just sit on its home edge and pound whatever it wants. The only thing I could think of that could deal with it fairly easily is a drop battle company with the formation of 3 devastator and 3 assault Marines in drops. Null deploy and then get right in his face with 11 drop pods and you should be able to take out at least 4-6 units before he does anything.

The Dark Angel/Space Wolf player did pretty much that in that game. He null deployed and brought in a ton from reserve and with drop pods. Still got beaten.

interestingly enough, top 8 wasn't full of eldar and necrons this year... interesting to see how the meta changes on big tournies...

I wonder what a lot of brim horrors means.
I understand they are probably just for cheap phycic dice.
But you literally get two units of free blue horrors and two units of brimstone horrors free with every unit of pink horrors.

I imagine the idea is that they're cheap as hell board coverage. As was mentioned, null deploy stuff with a ton of pods could be a problem for that list, so just straight up filling the deployment zone with models is a good way to keep deepstrikers from getting too close to the big stuff.

I believe that yes, it was the cheapest obsec numbers he can field just to deep strike / deploy all over the place and gum up the works.
An additional issue with splitting is slowing down the game to a crawl... which means you cannot win big at these events because you simply run out of time to achieve all the objectives.
and against most normal weaponry, 2wounds with cover/invul is going to be enough of a speed bump that you can eat a LOT of firepower
also on the KP missions, splitting is a huge liability, especially in a list which already has a crapton of them.

Could be. Ill never understand why brimstone horrors have more then one wound.
When they are toughness 1 even str 2 instakills them. Lol

interestingly enough, Brett Perkins, the guy who ran said list, took a 45 minute first turn in one of the top 8 games... apparently it was streamed so this actually occurred.
....also just so happens his army does much better when games don't go long (especially in maelstrom)...
can see where some people are a little salty about that one....

well with, three earthshakers (i assume they mean basalisks) so three large blasts
two madusa's, more blasts.
two wyverns more twin linked blasts
i don't know what the artilary do but i assume blasts.
are rapier lasers blasts?
then at least 10 warp charges and thats just assuming two units of brim horrors but there is probably a lot more but i haven't checked the numbers on points to see how many horrors he would have had.

Rapier lasers are 36” S9 Ap2 – TL, Ordnance. Basically just a better Lascannon with slightly shorter range.
