Last time it was ran time was just not available to me. Depending on when it's held I would show up as I was interested in the idea.

Rules for each individual arena we've run are in the "sign up" thread in battle reports section... the rules get tweaked slightly for each of the arenas....
Also the arenas are strictly online - story driven... kind of like a big battle report is the idea... everyone makes a character within a certain point limit (and a few other restrictions) and the battles are rolled by whoever is running the arena, then the fights posted as a story... people who've submitted characters add in their background, fluff and ongoing actions their characters do between fights...
it's fun but alot of work... but I'd run one again if there was interest.

Like I said, I have a bit more time, so I'd submit an entry if it all goes down.
Maybe we could do the same for 40K, might be fun as well considering the new books that have come out recently.

I'm sure the arena of death could be modified to add in special abilities such as hit and run, etc into the close combat.

it could be a shoot then assault, so each round you shoot then assault maybe

I was thinking the same thing, seeing as how 90% of special characters have some form of ranged attack be it a gun or a spell used in the shooting phase it would make sense to have shooting them assault.
Not to derail this Arena post, but I'm a lot more excited about a 40k Arena than a fantasy, just my two cents there.

Yeah a 40k arena would be cool 170pts?

hmm maybe. since we have never done one it would be a hit and miss thing to stay away from brutal combos. the original one u couldnt take named characters so we would have to do that. also would we have them shoot then assault? or we could have them assault each other but if the charactor chooses he can shoot rather then assaulting.. just options

I'd say shoot then assault would work fine and I agree with the no special characters deal, the entire goal is to make your own hero, not bring a pre-boxed chunk of awesome.
As for points, I'm not sure 170 would be enough to represent a good cost considering all armies in question. I'd be more partial to 200 myself but that's just a guess as well.
Anyone else have a thought as to points cost? I realize that any marine character will be a bit stripped down at 200, or lower whereas "cheaper" armies like nids and space elves could pull off some sickening combos even at the 170-200 range much less more.
