Not sure where the other thread went to but oh well.
Update on the Bolt Pistol, the aluminum block I ordered has arrived and will be shipped (via most likely me) to Delaware for cutting into a Bolt Pistol and detached Magazine.
Now that the Bolt Pistol is as done as I can get it for now, what 40k or fantasy weapon should I do next?
I was leaning towards one of the Tau troop weapons, maybe even the rail rifle. Chime in, tell me what you think.

I had thought about eventually doing something big, but I'm undecided as to what. Not to mention how much it would be to get a block of aluminum that big to cut the blank, holy bejeezus that thing would weight about 400 pounds. It would however be really cool to do a Dreadnought and have him "guard" the door to my house.
Although since I first posted it, I've been cleaning up the 2D Pulse Carbine (pathfinder variant) so I can begin working it into 3D. I figure this is the best use of my time seeing as how I can use the back end of it for the back end of the standard Pulse Carbine and the Pulse Rifle as well.

pulse rifle would be awesome, but ya rail gun would be pretty heavy no wonder tau use a battle suit to hold two lol

Even just a plastic replica version of a rail gun would be immensely heavy.
P.S. The markerlight will be cast hollow so as to facilitate better electronic placement.

So here it is, version 1 of the Pathfinder Pulse Carbine, I don't think it's finished yet but I'm unsure as to what else to add to it aside from some details along the back of the Scope/ Targeting Unit. Games Workshop fans, let me know what you think it needs to be the baddest Pulse Carbine a Pathfinder ever used.
I apologize for the black line through the middle of this shot, it's a circle placed around the object, I had been toying with the idea of having a camera animate around the circle but went with photos instead.

You can see the lack of detail across the back of the rifle clearly in this pic, not sure if they'd have a magazine release or not...
The double trigger is setup so you pull back on it to fire the Carbine, and push forward to blast off a Photon Grenade from the integrated launcher.

I added a few more sensor spots on the front of the scope, two just didn't seem enough for everything this should be able to do. You can also clearly see a mockup Photon Grenade.
Overall dimensions: 4 feet long x 16 inches tall x 7 inches (at the grenade launcher); 3 1/2 inches (at the main weapon portion); and finally 5 inches (across the scope)

Can't really speak for realism, but four feet long seems...well...very long for a carbine. Aren't they supposed to be a bit more compact.
I'd say three feet long tops.

I thought the same thing myself, but if you look at the scale of the carbine in relation to the Pathfinders themselves, the length doesn't seem off at all, the Pulse Rifle is just stupid long and don't get me going about the extreme imbalance project that is the Rail Rifle.
That having been said, I suppose I could shave a few inches out of the overall.

Anyone else? All other Tau players at large (and non-Tau players), in your opinion do you think they'd have safeties? magazine releases? there's not a lot of detail on the model for obvious reasons and as of now she does look slightly blank in spots...so any thoughts?

I'd have to dig out the old Fire Warrior video game to see if there is any extra detail on the pulse carbine you get.
I wonder where the heck it is though...

I hadn't thought of that, maybe I can dredge up some stills or a video from that. Thanks for the idea Swords.
