Figured this was the most appropriate spot to post my exciting news. Found out tonight that my girlfriend's parents had an extra sheet of plywood they no longer need that they are going to cut down to size for me so I will finally have a gaming table in my basement And it worked out great since I managed to pick up a gaming mat to cover it once I get it here so I'll finally be able to start having games at home when I'm not free to make it down to Nexus. Now to just get the rest of my armies finished so I'll have more than just my Dark Eldar to play...

Accepting terrain donations? As long as they are full-scale replicas of the Emperor's Palace on Terra...maybe ;D

Congrats man, I'm the opposite, I have my tabletop built, I just no longer have a large enough table to put it on. What method did you use to make yours? I made a fram from 1 x 4's then cut down two 2" sheets of insulating foam for the surface, with some more 1x4's to support the sheets it makes a nice light 4'x6' tabletop painted mottled grey for some ash wastes games.

I've got a 6x4 sheet of plywood on top of a folding table. I'm currently still debating on whether I'm going to secure the gaming mat I found to it, or if I'm just going to leave them separate so that in the future I can look into building a table from foam and then applying the mat to it (it's a grass mat used for train tables....you use a heating tool and it will mold itself to the the texture underneath)

Sweet, where'd you score the mat from again?

Leading Edge. It's 50x100" and costs just over $30 with taxes. They had about 4 different shades of green and one that kind of looked like desert sand.
They also have smaller sheets that were 30x50" for about $15 before taxes if I remember right.

I've finished cutting the gaming mat to the size I wanted (a little bit bigger than 6x4 so it overhangs a little just in case) and I'm now working on weighting down the wood so it sits lever on the table...basically trying to get it to warp a bit so it lays flat on the not-so-flat folding table I'm setting it on.

Just thought I'd mention to everyone...I have now played my first official game on my gaming table ;D
Now to just get more terrain built and I can have a more varied table setup.
Oh and for those curious it was Matt's HE's vs my DE's...ended up a draw after 3 turns.

Did you ever solve the problem you were having with it not laying flat?

I ended up buying some flat fencepost toppers and using them to support the entire board so that it no longer rocked on top of the folding table.
I have a co-worker who's Mom was a teacher and managed to get her hands on a bunch of the big brown folding tables schools used in their cafeterias. She's going to see if her Mom would be willing to part with one so that I could use it instead of the one I am currently using.
