So is 1650 the new standard points for ITC or is this just an outlier as the good flying lists don't get nasty until 1850? just wondering as we have stuck with our standard 2000 pts. Also an interesting point made by the author involving going first, does see to be VERY strong this edition because you can only hide 50% off the table and on the table there is no more everything has a 2+ for the first round to avoid alpha strikes. Also interceptor is gone so any one can deep strike/ reserve with almost no cons to the tactic.
Ork!!!!! I'm so happy to see them on top. Also this looks VERY similar to the list I ran vs danny's Harlies and it did well so I'm happy I'm on the right track with list building. The build definitely taught me that since the kannon get split into their own units after deployment you might as well use them to milk for Command points. Just a really solid list out of orks.
Tau. Just confused how this list came 2nd. Not surprised to see command spam as they are the best suits for the points hands down! but this list has minimal damage output, minimal defensive to soak return fire, and minimal bodies to score with.... It only looks good at dealing with flyer spam so maybe that was enough to carry it in the meta? Looking at it, not sure how a balanced list could lose to this.
Eldar, **cough cough HARLEQUINS cough cough** look like they are really powerful with 2 top 3 finishes in 3 GT's. Interested to see if Eldar or Dark Eldar catch up to them as the meta develops.
Overall happy to see a tournament that wasn't won but Marines Flyer Spam so I'd put this in the win column for progression of the meta. (again assuming the 1650 pt cap wasn't the main factor in shutting down the flyer spam.)

I have shied away from creating a commander spam list, but each game I've played my commander is an MVP. My last game with him he took down 4 armoured sentinels, half of a bane hammer, and a good couple little gribblies.

But I'm sure the look on my face was priceless when I lost a 26 wound T8 3+ Banehammer for FIRST BLOOD
tau is no joke... but yeah, commanders are the new riptide wing...
RE first turn - this is why reserves are a trap in some ways... you put too much off the table you just have FAR too few resources to bring to bear early game (at least what I've found)... alpha strikes can be brutal if you do the 50% reserves limit.

I have no clue how tau can first blood a bane blade without a lot of forge world help.

I have no clue how tau can first blood a bane blade without a lot of forge world help. The answer is some FW help. 16W from a Y'Vahra, 9 from a Ghostkeel, and the final love tap from the commander, but the commander could have shot before the Ghostkeel and probably finished it off himself. The banehammer had 1 markerlight on it, so commander is rerolling 1's, pretty much guaranteeing 4 hits, wounding on 4s, with one command point reroll, and doing d6 damage with no save allowed. Quad fusion commander. *Edit* and fusion 'keel

A couple commanders could have done it with no forgeworld either and one markerlight (for less points). fusion rocks vs. vehicles now. Commander spam WILL be a thing I'm sure... they're just SO good....
Tau say "goodbye" to armor fairly easily.... but riptides... man just make them Y'varras now... regular tide is a pale shadow of his former self...

Ok ya 16 wounds from Y'Vahra makes more sense. I have been looking for lists that are not like 6 commanders and then 1200 pts of stuff. Tau are really good at pulling down armor, but its not the stuff that use to be good at it.
