So I've been thinking quite alot about lore lately and I've come to a realization "one that might already be obvious to others" that there are more Chose God's then we might think.
As it stands right now we can count four, unless I am mistaken.
There is Khorn, Slaneesh, Nurgle and Tzeentch.
Now bear with me here. One can logically think that each God represents a deadly sin, a common theme in gothic worlds, which Warhammer 40k is. So wrath, lust, sloth, envy, glutonny, pride and greed.
Therefore if we associate a deadly sin to the four God's we get, in my opinion, these categories.
Khorn is probably Wrath, since fighting is what he does. Typically associated with blood and red colors.
Slaneesh in the lore was born out of the lust and weird dabbling of the eldar. I would argue that Slaneesh is the God of Lust.
Nurgle in my opinion would be Sloth. Units are slower but tough and he is typically seen sitting and rotting. In my view rotting things don't move fast.
Tzeentch for me would represent envy. In many genres an envious person takes many forms and messes with everyone's plan. Changing forms is often seen as a charateristic of an envious person.
Now that finishes of the four God's we know of. Now hear me out.
For glutonny. A case could be made that the Tyranids have an unknown Chaos God that drives them. They consume worlds and might in the end consume everything. This could be an unknown Chaos God, forgotten by the others as it was in the far reaches of the universe.
For pride, well I would argue that the necrons are a very proud race. So proud that they gave up their mortal shells for immortal materials and stay alive forever. So proud that they should never die. It would seem fitting that a proud ancient civilization would want to stay around forever. Possibly the original Chaos God. The father of Chaos God's as pride would try to recreate itself and give birth to Chaos God's.
As for Greed well I would argue that there is one Chaos God that is staring at us in the face and we don't even know he exists. Well I say he because when I look at it the God Emperor of Terra would perfectly fit in the greed category. One he is mentioned as a God by many. Two he would seem to want to control and to have everything. And three maybe the thruth about the heresy is that the astrates found out that their father, the Emperor, is just another Chaos God. That in the end nothing really matters. The Imperium is a lie and the universe is controlled by Chaos God's already. He does sit on a golden throne.
That would leave the other races as the "good guys". Who would have thought the the Orks and Tau were the salvation of the universe.... Well at least if you see it that way.
Has this idea been explored? What do you guys think?
Is the Emperor a Chaos God in disguise? Are we just peons in a Chaos Conspiracy?
"Please don't mention this to an Inquisitor."
