For $10, I'll give it a go.

I really like the idea but I never paint anything that’s already glued to a base. Let me know how it goes if you do end up buying one, I may just have to modify some stuff and give it a go.

For $10 I'm also going to give it a shot.
I've been using sticky tac and pill bottles recently as "painting handles" but depending on the weight of the model the success of that varies.
The majority of what I paint is on 32mm bases so it should work out quite well. I do have a few things with a 50mm or larger base, but they're mostly my goal posts for Guild Ball and my Hulk and Hulkbuster MCUMG models. I'll just have to make due.

Goodness, a Citadel hobby product at a reasonable price point! Never would have considered it. I'll have to give this a try though, as someone who never *ever* cares enough to paint things unassembled.

So I bought one of the painting handles over the weekend and gave it a go.
Honestly, it does what it's meant to do and so far does it pretty well. I was using it for metal Guild Ball minis and even held a mini upside down for a good period and it didn't fall out. If you have big hands it might feel a tad small. When I grip it I only have enough room for my thumb and three fingers letting my pinky fall free and I would say my hands are of an average size.
I had a slight issue keeping the spring loaded holder open long enough to get a 40mm base in but once it was in it was held tightly. Getting the 40mm base out nearly cost me a finger too. That's how tight the grip is right now. Who knows if that will loosen over time and use. I guess that would be expected.
