Some folks have found it odd that in 8th edition, the void shields commonly found on Titans and other large Imperial war machines are able to save mortal wounds. This is compounded by the fact that most mortal wounds come from psychic attacks, which are typically thought of as ignoring most physical laws. I must admit, I was one of those people.
However, during my reading of Malleus, from the Eisenhorn Trilogy, void shields are used specifically to encapsulate thirty three heretical psykers, all of whom were immensely powerful in their own right. An inquisitorial task force also overloads an estate's protective void shields to create a temporary null zone in the collapsing field.
After reading these sections, I did a little digging of my own, and found several sources that seem to imply that void shields interact with not only the physical realm, but also the immaterium.
So, as early as 2001, there has been an in universe example of void shields protecting against psychic attacks.

Yep! They work in the same way as the Gellar Fields on Imperial spaceships; they block out the Warp enough that daemons can’t interact (too much) with the crew as the ship travels through the warp.
