Just for interests sake... here's a snapshot of 2017's army breakdown at champs: Chaos 5 Admech 4 space marines 4 Eldar 4 Tau 3 Genestealer Cults 3 Orks 2 Imperial knights 2 Dark Eldar 2 Necrons 1 Grey knights 1 Dark angels 1 This year we have 8 more players and the landscape will be quite different Could we get a 2018 break down? I feel like thats info that doesn't ruin the surprise but might hype up the players.

Okay here we go... army breakdown for 2018...
a couple things - if you have a chaos soup style army or a legion that doesn't have their own book like Tsons and Death guard, you're listed as "chaos". I went with the primary force (which you had the most of, where your warlord is, etc.) so there's a few things like little detachments of other factions in these lists, so it's not a complete picture (as I didn't list every army in each list, just the main one)
also, because you'll do math quite easily - there's three right now I don't know what faction they're playing (and four lists still outstanding!) I'll update this as they come in.
Tau 3 Dark Angels 4 Astra Militarum 8 Thousand Sons 2 Chaos 6 Necrons 2 Daemons 1 Death Guard 2 Blood Angels 1 Harlequins 1 Admech 1 Tyranids 2 Orks 1 Eldar 1 Dark Eldar 1 Adeptus Custodes 1
Imperium: 15 (most common is AM) Chaos: 11 (most common are legions from csm book) Xenos: 11 (big mix - but tau is slightly ahead with 3!)

So I'm shocked there are no primary legion space marines! also a little surprised there are no Ynnari.
Overall that's an awesome spread of armies! I think we have 1 of everything as a primary except Space marines, Space wolves, Grey Knights and Ynarri.

Wow, yeah. No Space Marine lists is wild. I figured guard would be a favorite this year, but close to a quarter of the armies is a ton.
A bit worried at my crowd control abilities, but I guess Cultists are capable of killing Guardsmen at least.

I was completely shocked we had no Bobby G list this year given how downright good those are. still a couple lists to come in, but still... also no deathwatch, no inquisition, no sisters, plus....No imperial knight primary armies (which we've ALWAYS had since their release!)

My guardsmen killed off my genestealers and repurposed the vehicles. ... does that count?

Not only is it stunning that there are no space marine lists, I haven't seen 5 DA armies in the same tournament since I don't know when. And I've been at this for over 30 years.

And I've been at this for over 30 years. we got ONE space marine! right at the end... and it's an Ultra too! I was quite surprised as well that the power armor army of choice was dark angels... I mean you can make a super solid list with them of course, but usually there's a bit more of a spread! the entire tourney is so different army wise from last year it's crazy... especially when you add the allied detachments (which of course I left as a surprise )

I think this is helblaster fever, strat to boost plasma damage, and re-roll 1s if you dont move... hello 10-20 helblasters and then normal marine support.

Re-roll ones to wound, and ignore cover bubbles for Ravenwing.and he is a character in a landspeeder.
