Just finished False Gods... ...poor Magnus... But Horus does have a good point when you think about it.... making my support of chaos even more justified. The most important takeaway from that book is Erebus is a jackass.

I'll throw in my hat for the Ciaphas Cain books by Sandy Mitchell - like 40k Flashman - lots of great action, and a TON of hilarity, with an amazing cast of recurring characters.

I signed up for audible and finished horus rising myself also.
What a great book. I fully enjoyed it.
The whole megarachnid thing makes me think of an early tyranid invasion.

...I immediately thought "hmmm how do I make a megarachnid army?" Yes. That would be awesome I was thinking of an interex army. But I don't know how you could even start to make an army with cyborg centaurs

Can anyone recommend a 40k book that has some xeno PoVs in it? Eldar, Tau or Necrons woud probably be the only options since the 'nids are all about "nomnomnomnomnomnom" and the Orks are well.....Orks.

There are the Path of the Eldar and something similar (path of the dark eldar?) Trilogies by Gav Thorpe. Very good insights into the Eldar societies

On a fluff-related note, the cutscene in Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 showing Trazyn the Infinite chatting with Cawl on Cadia was just beautiful.
The VA they picked for old Trollzyn had just that perfect level of smug upper crust noble even as he's talking Belisarius into listening to him.
BC: Foul machine Xeno, die in the name of the Omnissiah! Trazyn: Lookie here boy, I got tech treats (shakes box). BC: New best friend!

Flight of the Eisenstein done.
Dorn is a douche. Garro is a badass. That is all.

Garro = The First Grey Knight
Not to mention he’s a freaking Terran born marine, making everything he’s done all the more impressive because he’s just a mini-marine.

Yeah, the "Thunder Warriors" were smaller than the later-on genetically altered space marines. It led to some bad blood and hard feelings within certain legions that were particularly insular, like the Death Guard. They called out several times that the Death Guard from Barbarus never fully trusted the Terran marines in their legion as they’d not grown up in the hard landscape of Barbarus and hadn’t lived under the Tyrant’s oppressive thumb.

*Edit* I forgot this: As far as I'm aware, the Terran Marines were the same size as marines from their Primarch's adoptive home worlds. They were made of the same genetic stock, and underwent the same augmentations. The Thunder Warriors were not marines at all, but "Proto-Marines". They were all killed by Emps, Custodes and the original astartes before setting off on the Great Crusade. They had served their purpose during the Unification Wars on Terra. The annihilation of the Thunder Warriors is actually brought up by some of the legions as a reason to commit the heresy. They argue that once the Emperor is finished with the great crusade, he will dispose of the legions in the same way. The Death Guard definitely don't fully trust Terran marines though, for all the reasons listed.
