I’m wondering how this would interact with the Death Guard “Inexorable Advance” rule that allows Death Guard units to fire twice with Rapid fire weapons at 18” even if they moved… I can’t imagine it stacking as that’d be ridiculous, but the argument can be made as laid out below.
Bolter rules allow for firing twice if they’re within half max range or stood still. Inexorable Advance allows them to fire twice with rapid fire weapons at 18” instead of half range if they moved.
IF a unit is 12” away from a Death Guard unit, do they fire twice, or do they fire 4 times?

sounds like you'd just get the benefits at 18" rather than 12" ... not seeing where it says anywhere than anything doubles the rapid fire amount... only that you get to fire twice if at half range, or full range if stationary or termies/bikes/vehicles
so the bonus for being death guard would be they can rapid fire at 18" instead of 12"... so nothing really changes, other than if they stay stationary, they get the full benefit of the new rule, rapid firing at 24".
the new rule doesn't double the firepower of bolter weapons. It changes the distance for rapid fire's "fire twice" ability if you meet certain other conditions. (staying still or being termie/bike/vehicle)

Ya its not like if a terminator stood still and was in 12 inches he would get 12 shots with a storm bolter.

No, but... standing still allows him (and all other Astartes with a Bolter) to "make double the number of attacks". Death Guard get to "fire twice" up to 18" even if they move.
I can see someone asking about this as RAW, Death Guard get 4 shots per dude at 18" if the target is 18" away from them and they stand still, OR 4 shots per dude at 18" IF they moved AND the unit they're firing at is 12" away.

no... that's not RAW at all... A plague marine has rapid fire 1 bolter. current rule - at 18" he can make 2 shots with said bolter due to inexorable advance New rule - at 24" if he didn't move he can make 2 shots. At 18" if he moved he gets 2 shots. (due to inexorable advance) no where does it say anywhere that you quadruple shoot. The beta rule simply lets you have a better range on the conditions that trigger rapid fire. Just like how inexorable advance lets you extend the range of rapid fire currently. the key phrase here is: "Instead of following the normal rules for Rapid Fire weapons," so it's not rapid fire applies first so 2 shots at 12".... then inexorable advance doubles it again! because you clearly must ignore the normal rules for rapid fire. (which is satisfied normally by condition one anyways, so you're not LOSING anything, you're gaining a small but significant buff) Attachments:

we use all beta rules... so this is out and in place for the club champs
new assassins do not come out in time however, as they're in March's white dwarf, so are not legal for champs.
