So my plans for this log is to detail my progress through my huge horde of fantasy models, both GW and Reaper in variety.
My current plan is to have all of Sigmar assembled before Saturday, ideally also primed (need to check if my primer is still good, if it is I'll prime black, if not, I'm open to suggestions).
Moving forward my plan is to vary assembling, painting and scenery creation, I'd like to get a few small hills or jungle shrubbery (I've decided to make a jungle table out of my old 8'x4' train table) however I need to rearrange a lot of things, possibly even rebuild the table (I think I want to maybe deconstruct it and cut it in half, and rebuilt it such that it can lock together) however the table is a project for much later.
The priority is the minis, and some things for them to fight around/over/in haha
If you're not familiar with my general log then my tasks are as follows:
Strip a lot of skaven, like a lot, in order to preserve my sanity they'll be done slowly, infrequently, in units. Priority one is the jezzails, priority two are some skaven to crew the warp lightning cannon (unsure what I'm going to use for these guys, I'll have to look through them and find something suitable), priority three are the storm skaven but they might not be stripped, just touched up, their paint isn't too bad.
Assemble and paint some beastmen and warriors of Chaos, far less sanity crippling are the braying stinking rebels of order and the tainted barbarians, these guys look great and I can't wait to get to them. Depending how assembly goes they might be done by units or all together. Painting will definitely be done by units.
A lot of general loose fantasy minis by reaper need paint, also some other non-reaper non-gw metals. Since these guys aren't units they're much slower to paint, they're more suited to be individualized adventurers and they'll be done infrequently in the queue (as in whenever I feel like painting a single fancy 'hero' unit haha)
For basing I'm planning on a jungle theme as mentioned, should be pretty straight forward, dark brown mostly, some patches of grass flock, some rocks, some brighter greenery, maybe some clippings from plastic plants, I'm planning to vary the amount of brown between units to eventually make a display where they'll stand in separate areas and tie into a nice jungle scene. This should add some differentiation between units while maintaining a cohesive feel across the models.

So far what's been achieved is some of the khorne warband has been assembled, the more intricately puzzling models are assembled and a couple of the "not berserkers" so tonight I hope to finish the rest of the models and maybe get some sigmarines together.
The mighty khorne lord and the bloodsecrator are in pieces mostly assembled but unbased to allow easier painting.
Also on the list this evening is a visit to my lovely model train store to get some supplies. I'm thinking some light green coarse flock to assist in some jungley underbush, maybe some moss/flower flock, and some coarse sand, for smaller rocks I have fish pebbling. I might also get out to michaels to pick up some paint for bases/scenery.

I got some excellent stuff for ground coverage (some underbush and some lichen), some junky cheap brushes to do pva work, and some cheap acrylic for terrain work. So my shopping trip was very successful!
I assembled some more dudes from the AoS box set, my goal is to prime them all Friday.

Today I got some terrain brushes, some marbles, some cheap exacto knives for cleaning up parts of terrain (NOT FOR HEAVY CUTTING), a terrain sponge, marbles, a pallet. I assembled some blood reavers. I must say that assembling the Age of Sigmar starter kit is an absolute joy. It's a really great intro to the hobby so long as you start from the BACK of the book and work your way in, since everyone here is experienced just pick whatever and go crazy. The more complex models do not feel like the snapfit marines of old AT ALL! It's really amazing how much detail the sculpts have and how intricate building the champions is. I got a good run in, hence why only six little guys (but it was the more complex guys! Some of them needed both arms glued on not just their head or something haha), it was grueling, I've been tired/slacking so it was about five days since I last managed to get a run in, but the blood god drove me on

I've got some paint down on the bloodsecrator, I can't wait to block out a few more colours so I can get a decent wip, I really like where I'm taking it and can't wait to show you guys.
I just am taking a break to do some chores on the computer, as well as swap out a cup of water!

I figured that with everyone and their pet dog starting a Khorne Bloodbound I wanted something to set my guys apart, I don't think many people will be mixing the coloured trim with the standard metallic trim motif, and with the mix of skin tones I plan to apply to my guys I think my force should look pretty unique! That's to say nothing about how I'm planning to base them haha

Hobby log UPDATE!!! WEE WOO WEE WOO That's the hobby alarm Yes, still going through the blood secrator, I forgot to snap some pictures of his totem, but believe me when I say that too is coming along I cleaned up the reds, cleaned up the steel, cleaned up the skin a couple coats, put down a couple coats on the straps, got the lovely screaming bell bronze khorne icons done up, detailed the axe haft, detailed the axe bronze bits Still need to do the fur, redo the boots, paint that little green tendril and put a grey coat on the rock. I also need to touch up the collar and do his hair. Also you probably noticed his pony-tail fell off, be careful with your fragile toy soldiers! Also surprise, a custom base for a beast lord who needs to be primed You might be saying "boy I thought I paint slow, look at nsc go! Well for your information I've been quite busy! I assembled 55 models, which were 30 gors, 10 bestigors, 10 ungors, the beastlord and a great-bray shaman. For those who are good at math, the 53-55 numbered models that were assembled were three chaos knights. Fun fact, a chaos knight is the same size as a blood warrior! They're in scale with each other I'll be entering armies on parade this year, I'm going to do a furious brayherd and if I have time I'll add some bonus models to it I've already got the display terrain planned and I'm very excited to start painting troops (I won't be detailing the rank and file boys nearly as much as the bloodsecrator, although the command elements will get extra love). Taunting me however are the sigmarines, I don't know how long I can resist them, I definitely need another starter box and I want some skaven plague monks! @ ~ @ Oh boy, take things slow and steady nsc, ease up. Thankfully Armies on Parade is definitely focusing me, so my order of operations for spending more money is as follows: Finish my beastmen display for armies on parade. Assemble and prime the order half of my starter kit. Paint the Lord Celestant Riding a Dracoth (I'm painting him in pieces for sure, and I can't play on the tables at my local GW unless the models are assembled and he needs to be painted to be assembled so therefore he needs to be painted perfectly logical) Then I'll buy another starter kit. Assemble and prime the order half of the 2nd starter kit. Branch out into single boxes of things. So I won't be buying plastic until October....although that's a lie as I will probably buy the second starter kit soon because I've heard that the Canadian Dollar will be dropping to .6something by the end of the year and I don't fancy GW's reaction of making starter kits $210 (this is my estimate/predictions based on fears an rumors, take it with a grain of salt). So really I won't be buying plastic until after November, excluding the Starter Kit that I'll probably buy next Saturday.. HOWEVER, discipline time. I'm going to try and have 10 bestigors done before Saturday. They're currently assembled but not primed so I'll let you know how things go.

Ten days have passed and here's my hobby update Blood secrator is almost done, just a quick layer and highlight and he's done, his totem needs a wash on the metal, then layer and highlight. After that it's base with sand, some flock, some underbush clump and he's done like dinner. I wanted to use the natural colour for the sand as kind of greyish dirt, I think it will look very nice with the green patches of vegetation and the reds from the skin/armour In other hobby news I've started making a new carrying case with foam and what not, it's a toolbox because there was a sale at Canadian tire and I like the little boxes to carry dice + markers Also I've based 52 beastmen (30 gors, 10 ungors, 10 bestigors) almost all of them are ready to be primed (I want different ground colour for these guys since they'll be grey/brown, so I want the ground to be more yellow instead of the greyish sand colour) Coming up in the pipe is Gorthor, a Ghorgon, 10 more bestigors and SIGMARINES WOOOO! The sigmarines will probably edge out the bestigors, but my plans are to paint only the lord celestant on a dracoth and have the rest merely assembled to be playing with them and teaching some people I know the game (someone special even heh) So my tentative schedule is to finish the paintjob on the bloodsecrator tonight, base him tonight or tomorrow, and then by friday finish priming all the beasts, assemble the ghorgon, partially assemble gorthor. Paint the bestigors, assemble the liberators, paint 10 gors, assemble the prosecutors, paint 10 gors, assemble the retributors, paint 10 gors, assemble the two lords from one starter box, paint 10 ungors, paint vandus (aka LCOD), and finally paint my beastlord and my great-bray-shaman. For the gors and ungors they'll be pretty minimal, brown or grey fur, two tone coat, wash, pick out the bones, colour the shields and weapons, pickout a detail or two each and move on. I'll be looking to get a good base on these guys done and then come back and add detail after I've got 52 guys to display for armies on parade. Which leads right into my other semi-parallel projects, TERRAIN I'm going to make a "chef-a-gor" with some arms sticking out of his cooking pot as an objective marker and "terrain" for the display board. I've got a planned huge stone skull to paint up with gems for eyes. Finally I also want to have a rocky outcropping for the beastlord and shaman to look out over the brayherd. Rough plans, should be amusing at the least, my next display board also has some preliminary planning done but that's top secret for now
