As a horde player, I am not keen on this painting perk bullshit.

Cut Them Down gives me hope that Striking Scorpions might be good again, because the stratagem is basically the same as 8th Ed Mandiblasters. That said, against small units (and MSU looks to be very popular again) it's probably not great. 1 CP for 1-die-per-model that cause a mortal wound 17% of the time? No thanks. Unless it's a unit above 15 models the math doesn't seem worth it to spend the CP. Would have loved to see that stratagem put the absolute fear of the emperor/dark-gods/whatever-you-worship into someone thinking about falling back.

How big of a unit can Striking Scorpions take? The strat is for every one of your models, not the amount of enemies that fall back.
That said, it is for every one of the models in your army that is in engagement range. If you have 30 gretchin from 3 different squads within engagement range of a unit that uses that strat, you get to roll 30 dice.

Core rules for the new edition are out for free on warhammer Community. 26 pages, but alot of effort done to explain clearly how things interact. Overall seems well produced

Hmm. Fight phase starts with your opponent. You charge my unit. I strike first.

Hmm. Fight phase starts with your opponent. You charge my unit. I strike first. Not quite. There's still a rule stating all charging units go first. first bolded section in the fight phase.

There is a change there for sure though. First non-charger is now the off-player.

my question is chargers go first, but what it the other army has go first? do you still start with the player whos turn it isn't? does that mean i charge you and since you have goes first and i charged you pick first?

chargers go first... if you have a rule that lets you fight first (my slaanesh army) you get to count as a charging unit... so opposing unit fights with their first charger, my keeper of secrets fights, then second charger fights etc.
only difference now is when all chargers are done, the defender gets to pick the first unit to fight after all chargers, ASF units are done.

Hmm. Fight phase starts with your opponent. You charge my unit. I strike first. Not quite. There's still a rule stating all charging units go first. first bolded section in the fight phase. Yeah, Always Fight First goes first, Charging gives Always Fights First effectively, and once charges are all resolved, then defending player chooses the first unit to activate from there. It was done because of the following scenario: Effectively, A (the player who charged) gets 1 combat round first, but then B gets to go twice in a row. With the "other player chooses fights first" the scenario changes to: No double-activation on either side. What it pans out to is that the player who initiates combat will likely be able to fight first in that combat unless another unit charges in as a relief force. It encourages counter-charging as an alternative way to remove units from combat, rather than falling back.

So if I understand that right, a normal marine with a Storm shield gets a 2+ armor save and a 4+ invul?
