The big thing I noticed was this: Modifiers are now capped, so no units can benefit from more than +1/-1 to hit That's right; no more sneaky Eldar forcing us to take -2 to hit them. Sure my tesla will only proc on 5s and 6s but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
Terrain is apparently changing: My wraiths will be able to reach the second floor now.
There's also a mention of flanking but not in the context of deep-strikes/out-flanking so unit facing might be important again.
What little has been said about the crusade campigns seem interesting where you start at combat patrol/500 points and scale up: There are apparently some tweaks to morale. Combat attrition is mentioned so maybe the more times you need to take morale tests on X unit, the harder it gets.
Fun thing; apparently Crusade works with matched play: New tournament format depending on how well the rules work?
And yes, you gotta spend CP to take soup.

I'm liking what I'm hearing so far, which is making me more likely to get back into 40K after all.
Is there any word on when 9th is Supposed to drop?

the end of CP farming will be a welcome change... sometimes it just sucks to have all these cool strats and never get to use them. (especially for an army like custodes for example).
The "you can never hit me" builds are annoying but we don't really see that alot locally, but again good change for the game.
I'm interested to see what they'll do with flyers overall... seems like a return to leaving and coming back on the board from earlier editions, which honestly makes a lot more sense... dying when they hit an invisible table edge isn't a very immersive rule!

Since i've only been around since end of 7th I am not really aware of past terrain rules. I thought thou 8th edition simplified rules to keep people from fighting it. Seems like they are back peddling if they start implementing a bunch of new terrain rules. Just wondering.

Just wondering. well if they don't have things be so damn vague this time, people might actually LIKE having terrain rules...lol just not those random mysterious terrain tables from AOS... gotta go simple, straightforward and no arguments. Thinking they'll do: woods, scatter style (fences/barricades etc.), ruins and impassable In the Q&A looks like they're saying that just because you see through a couple windows doesn't mean you can target anymore, so think they're going with the LVO decisions with ruins where first level blocks LOS. Monsters being able to shoot in combat will help Flyrants tremendously... greater daemons...not so much...lol Looks like the official missions will be NOVA (they put Mike Brandt in as their matched play competitive guy) rather than ITC, which was an interesting switch (thought Reece and company were their go to guys for playtesting?)

All of the rumours over the last 6 months anytime 9th was mentioned, put a target date for new edition at June. I'm more amazed that they may manage to actually keep to that given the last couple months.

I like hearing that there is now one team in charge of rules. Forge world models now fall under the same umbrella as games workshop for the purpose of rules and balancing. I look forward to seeing what they do with them.

Based on Chapter Master Valrak latest video it seems I misunderstood what GW was talking about in regards to flanking.
Apparently in 9th we will be universally able to pay CP to out-flank/deep strike (though I suspect it'll just be out-flanking to preserve balance)units without said special rule. Granted the CP cost will most likely scale with the number of models in a unit/type of unit you're out-flanking with. The example given was Black Templar sword brethren.
So Guard players should be able to pull a Creed with an out-flanking Bane-blade. They just need to fork over a good chunk of their CP to do it.

GSC: "but that was OUR thing" GW: "shut up freaks, nobody likes you" Though GSC will probably be able to do it for all their infantry without spending CP since as you said 'it's their thing'. Only thing you'd need to spend CP on would be the rockgrinder etc that can't out-flank/deep-strike (Or can they? I can't remember).
Hell considering their fluff etc and the apparent ground-up rework of terrain, the GSC might have an ability to ambush attack from reserve an enemy unit that in hunkering down in ruins.
Though considering the mention of actual bonuses from planting your units in terrain/ruins/buildings I have to wonder if terrain can be targeted/destroyed. Sort of like popping a transport or fortification to then shoot the guys as they pile out.
