So as expected and confirmed on War Com earlier this morning the December release will be Custodes vs GSC in Shadow Temple.
The GSC have started an uprising on Holy Terra itself, under the Imperial Palace itself!
The split box is fairly unimpressive to me on the GSC side, it's effectively a Broodcoven box and a bunch of Neophytes bundled with the new Saboteur mini. On the Custodes side it seems to be Allarus Termies and the new Company Champion style mini who is an anti character duelist as well as some Sisters of Silence
As far as codexes go:
On the Custodes side they have folded Sisters of Silence into the Custodes Codex, and can be played as a mixed force with benefits.
Faction traits will make different Custodes armies "feel more unique", and give them more army diversity.
On the GSC side, they said a lot of abilities/strats that used to be CP based will be converted to points-based upgrades like the mini relics BT recieved. This will allow GSC players to be less CP intense and their strats will be more reactive based while your pre-game planning abilities will be points/power based.

I'm glad that the Sisters of Silence got folded into the Custodes codex. Although, with that in mind, wouldn't it have made more sense to rename the codex to "Talons of the Emperor"? Oh well.

Well that box does nothing for me as a GSC player sadly... I'll just have to wait to get the saboteur once she's released separately, as I already of multiples of everything else.
I however am impressed that this is the first box set they aren't forcing you to buy an iconward lol
New book is welcome though. If I am able to put one of my favourite armies on the table again I'll be quite happy!

Holy smokes those Remote Explosives are good. If the Ballistic Skill of the Saboteur is 3+ or better, that's really really really good.
I feel like I'll be kitbashing/converting one of these sooner than later. I only hope the point cost is reasonable.

so... they made the one good unit in the codex T4 instead of T3... that's good for sure.
Changing the icon from a melee buff to restoring D3 models doesn't really solve the problem though of anyone pointing at an acolyte unit with any weapon and just erasing them, but I guess it's something. Having them less likely to do their actual job though (charge something and hopefully kill it) doesn't strike me as a good trade for that. The unit has to... well be alive for that to work, which is the inherent problem with GSC in a game involving staying alive on objectives and staying alive to do actions.
But here's hoping for a complete re-work (the only thing that makes sense) and T4 is at least a good start. I would extrapolate from that that Abberrants will be T5 (as they are bulkier than acolytes and supposed to be bigger mutated versions) which will almost, sort of make me consider for a moment running them. maybe.
