I’m totally getting the Necron box. The space marines also look tempting.
current price for models in the box
space marines: $400
necrons: $360
sisters: $365
death guard: $370
Orks: $349

The Space Marine one is extremely tempting since it would be a good split of units for my Salamander army idea and my Raven Guard would have some extra bodies to work with too plus the speeder

I don’t need more Warriors, but the locust and the O Destroyers, and new flayed ones would be more additions that I don’t have. And a second psycomancer might be good for bits. very tempting. |

The death guard one is wild. No HQ and every single unit is a playable, and because the bighthaulers can be squadded you could buy 3 of these without even breaking rule of 3s with a few extra choices for 2k and virtually no waste. And it leaves you free to sprinkle in your choice of HQ with no dupes.
Very unlike GW and out of all the boxes in both games the only one that's propa spammable.

The Ork one looks pretty "meh" (by my standards, at least) and - for what little comprehension I have of such matters - it seems as though, given the recent changes to Orky list-building, that this is even less "good" a selection of models, now..
20 Boyz (new sclupt) is a good start for an army
10 Grotz are... Cheap Objective sitters, I guess? (Trust me, Grots are not a good take, in this edition)
Shokk Attack Gun is always meme-tastic, but the range is completely mitigated by the new map setup rules with limited LoS.
Dakkajet... I don't like fliers and am willing to admit that I do not like the inclusion based almost entirely on that...
Deffkilla Wartrike... I mean, a good start if you plan on vehicle-spam... Not "wasted" with the rest of what is included... But there is not much synergy to be found, either..
Boyz and Grots are a good base for any army, and the Shokk-Attack gun always seems like a strong choice.
The changes to list-building limit the Dakkajet and Wartrike's usefulness - not to discount their general use, just that they do not seem *as strong an option* as they might have been, a few weeks ago.
Edit: Forgot to mention the Nobz - get these while you can, cos they're still the old sculpts and great for kitbashing! Otherwise, I feel like Nobz are a decent inclusion and the kit comes with all sorts of fun options for modelling and list-building.
The Nobz are, for myself, the most "value" from this set.

For what it's worth, I don't like the idea of fliers in the game either. Something on a smaller scale like EPIC 40K was back in the day is a good fit for them I think, but for your standard game of 40K I think they are a bit much.

The addition of saturation and fliers was a core failure of the 6th-7th era (I still remember when valkyries were skimmers in 5th!) but at this point we just gotta work with what we've got :/
The upside for the Ork box is even with the nerf to how many you can bring, Ork planes are among the best planes in the game, so it's not going to be a shelf warmer if you don't already own two.

You add them to the collection and tell yourself it's really for your kids so they have choices when they are old enough and want to play. That's how I justify buying more stuff when I don't work on anything I already have |

Was really hoping one would catch my eye and be my "new year new army" project for this year. I already have enough of 4 of them and the other 2 don't really interest me (ad mech and orks). Good value it seems in the boxes either way.
