why did you guys want this battlepack?
they're all terrible!
Oh well, I can at least mitigate it with the missions not giving extra bonuses to one player.

I voted for the GHB, but I would be totally fine with not using it if it's too cumbersome.
I do like the bonus CP only being on turn 1, that feels fair.

Here we go again! Saturday April 8th
Registration at 8:30 AM, dice roll at 9:00 AM 3 games – 2,000 point armies 9:00 – 11:30 – Game one 11:30 – 12:30 – lunch 12:30 – 3:00 – Game Two 3:00 – 5:30 – Game three 5:30 – Prizes and awards We’ll be using the missions from the current version of the General’s Handbook, with the exception of: PRIORITY: There will be no roll for priority each turn. At the beginning of the game, Roll a dice after deployment and choosing attacker/defender. On a 1-3 the attacker goes first, on a 4-6 the defender goes first. This order will remain throughout the game. The player going second ON ROUND ONE ONLY will receive 1 extra CP to balance the positioning advantage the first player gets. BATTLE TACTICS & GRAND STRATEGIES: only the Core ones are available (in the current General’s Handbook). No faction specific battle tactics / grand strategies can be used. Faction Terrain is permitted. NO PAINTING REQUIREMENT! (a lovely shade of grey plastic is perfectly acceptable!) NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! (can be your first games of AOS, it’s okay, we’ll help out!) All prizes are door prizes – you will get tickets to put in a draw of your choice for awesome prizes! I assume these rules / heroic actions will be banned since we are not playing with priority? Whoever goes second each battle round would have a significant advantage if these rules / heroic actions are left in play.

I think it's all or nothing when it comes to seasonal rules... Either play as they are intended (with priority) or play with rules similar to the recent league (arguably better). GHB (or at least this season) doesn't work without priority. Personally, I think the GHB rules are stupid and annoying that they force you to re-learn the game every 6 months... but if people want to use them... it's really messy without priority. That's my 2 cents Here we go again! Saturday April 8th

yes, those extra priority rules won't happen.
Essentially it will be the missions from GHB and the tactics, but the extra stuff you're right, doesn't work without all the rules.

I think once we go back to using the AoS rules I'd love to come to other tournament. Until then, I think this is a bit more chaotic than just using the rules the company puts out. Good luck guys!!!

Crazy idea - we use the 3rd Ed Core Rulebook Matched Play missions and battle tactics without the Priority Roll?
The missions do not build in mitigation to a double-turn. The Battle Tactics seem OK?
Anyhoo.

Yeah taking a look at them, the missions seem simple, but balanced. Grand Startegies and battle tactics are pretty generic, with some more achievable than others, but I think any army has a decent shot of scoring equally.

I have signed up for the tournament. Bring on whatever whacky combo of rules you people want to use.
After that I will be super down for playing some regular games of AoS. I look forward to relearning how to play with priority. So feel free to hit me up for whatever.

Gotta be honest I feel a bit unqualified to run an AOS tournament as I truly am only a very casual player (which is why I polled the community for what type of rules you wanted).
I either need to get more knowledge or hand the reins to someone more knowledgeable than myself about the game.
Stupid busy life lol

I have 8 more models to build, plus faction terrain, and I'd be good to go for the tournament. Sadly, I got confirmation that I will be most likely working on April 8th. Oh well, another time.

To be fair, I think you would have a lot less to learn about AoS than anyone else would about running a successful tournament.
Unfortunately, there is a bit of a split in the community that is kind of hard to accommodate. I find myself split too. I absolutely think AoS is a better game with the priority roll. But it is a skill test. I definitely don't always land on the right side of that test, which is fine, but I can appreciate that other people aren't even interested in engaging with it. It's definitely a big shift for anyone who is focused on 40k, and only casually dabbling in AoS.
So, as much as I'd rather play with the full rules, I want to see the community grow, and I do still have fun with our house rules. I'll probably continue not voting when it comes to priority, because ultimately it isn't a deal breaker for me. I just hope that as the new people play more, and get more comfortable with the rules, they will get curious about playing the full game.
I think the one thing we can all agree on is that democracy is always the wrong choice 😀
