interesting change to storm shields for assault termies - who all have a 4+ baked in regardless of loadout and if you throw on a storm shield it adds a wound.

I find it really disheartening that a Primaris Librarian and the Phobos are better than Ahriman...
Ahriman: Gives +1 to wound to his unit, 1x/game can use cabal ritual for free Psychic Stalk [Precision, Psychic] - 18" // A 1 // BS 2+ // S6 // AP-1 // D=D6 Black Staff [Psychic] - Melee // A 5 // WS 2+ // S 7 // AP-1 // D=3
Primaris Librarian: Gives unit 4+ invul and 4+ FNP vs psychic Phobos Librarian: Gives unit Stealth, can't be shot from outside of 12' and 4+ FNP vs. psychic Smite - witchfire [psychic] - 24" // A D6 // BS 3+ // S5 // AP-1 // D=D3 Smite - Focused [devastating wounds, hazardous, psychic] - 24" // A D6 // BS 3+ // S6 // AP-2 // D=D3 Force Weapon [psychic] - melee // A4 // WS 3+ // S6 // AP-1 // D=D3
Depending on points... Ahriman might be a bench warmer. His once per game no armor saves trick is good, but I'm disappointed in GW's treatment to be honest. For the master if the immaterium that he's supposed to be... he's going to be outranged and outclassed by new birthed primaris marines.

When I saw the storm shield change I was quite surprised as well. But it should make things interesting in how you think about applying termies in various situations. But new tactical thinking SHOULD be part and parcel of each new edition from my point of view. Helps keep my mind open and active while creating the illusion that buying this stuff over and over again is a little more worthwhile.

yeah GW said that this week all the nid and marine datasheets are released... so even from their own mouths this is happening! (well I certainly hope so cuz I arranged a couple 10th ed games lol) omg 250+ pages of space marines to go thru......then I gotta read up on the space wolves one too when that's out. sometimes, I'm glad I play chaos mostly, I know the csm index will not be as long

I'm hoping that some of my SM dust collectors will be coming off the shelves. Already planning to open army cases and dust off some of my armour as it now looks more survivable.

getting further into the SM dex, and I see that twin lighting claws aren't a thing for vanguard veterans. I'm hoping Spacewolf wolfgaurd are able to.

-starts poking SM index- Dear lord, I never realized the sheer scale of unit bloat the space marines have developed over the years. And GW is no doubt going to be adding more to the range as time goes on.

I'm decently happy with how wolves came out.
At first I was unhappy with the bonuses from the sons of Russ detachment but now they've revealed the strategem that allows you to gain one of the bonuses that you have not yet activated that seems to give a lot of flexibility so I'm pretty happy to have that option. The remaining strats give you what you need to be successful so they all seem like they will get use.
Enhancements all look good, in particular the wolf tail talisman looks excellent. I think almost all of them have their place but with the plethora of epic hero characters I think there's a good chance you might not even need/want them necessarily.
Some of the characters definitely look like great options. Ulrik the Slayer and Ragnar Blackmane are both looking pretty dope in particular.
Thunderwolves, and melee dreadnoughts made out like bandits, all retaining their 4++ and TWC getting T6 too stay in line with heavy bikes.
Several units got the heirloom weapon treatment, including wulfen, wolf guard, and TWC. Really looking forward to the modeling opportunities this provides to create unique models.
Blood Claws and Grey Hunters are sadly looking pretty garbo, cyberwolves are now a character upgrade for fenrisian wolves who themselves look pretty bad too.
Long Fangs with Grav Cannons are going to end up a staple in every list if points are anything less than absurd. They get damage 3 and anti-vehicle 2+. Absolutely ridiculously good.
Overall this looks like a nice streamline that preserves the reckless assault style of the wolves. Looking forward to trying it out.
