To keep some perspective on 20 comp versus 12, has the overall scoring scheme been decided? Like the Astro breakdown posted many pages back, if you are talking a swing of 8 points out of 200 for good/bad comp, it's not much of an effect. Especially if a poor comp score roughly equates to a powerful list, you'll be making up the points in gaming scores.
Knowing how much weight that will be given to the comp score in the overall scoring might determine if it's a big issue or not.

The overall scoring has not been completely nailed down yet (working on it!) but we're talking that comp will equal anywhere from 10% to 20% of the points (Astro's is 10% but they're putting a larger point value on sportsmanship scoring - I'm wondering if that needs to be that big of a portion given we normally don't have many issues with sportsmanship) My current thoughts would be having around: 30 points sportsmanship 20 points comp 60 points battle 30 points painting 10 points for "bonus" points Totally rough draft - I really have to work with the percentages a bit more.... but that would see a maximum of 10 points given per game... so an 8 point swing on comp would be like an extra major win added to your score... (10 points massacre, 8 points major win, 6 points minor win, 5 points draw, 4 points minor loss, 2 points major loss, 0 points massacred) Basically I wanted the battle points to matter the most (it is a club championship after all - the winner shouldn't be someone who got harshed six times!) but the other scores cannot be ignored if you expect to win the thing. I also was not looking at such a huge portion of the scoring being sportsmanship to avoid "chipmunking" but still be a significant portion of the tourney so you also couldn't be a complete jerk and expect to win either! anyhow, I totally just gave away the tentative scoring system didn't I? ?

And it's still true that you can bring a power list, win all your games and take home best general. Just may not win the overall championship? I think that's a fair balance when people decide what lists to bring.

i like it, it takes in account comp and sportsman ship but doesnt give them a huge weighting, same with painting. But you want to get those points if you want best over all. Now what might the bonus points be? or is it a secret? lol

lol... well I was going to give players the option of giving a bonus point every game.... So you award it to your opponent if you had a great game, they were fun and you enjoyed yourself... basically a "fun point".... it's not huge, but a small bonus that rewards someone for making the game fun for everyone... was also thinking there may be a fun prize for the person with the most fun points... (I totally stole this idea from Ali's D&D game I'm in) the other bonus points would be 2 points for submitting your army list by a certain deadline, and another 2 points to reflect if you gave your army a theme, backstory, or got creative with your army list... once again a small bonus to reward creativity... might break a tie but if you want to ignore it, it will be unlikely to change much.... ...unless you get them all.... then suddenly you've improved your score by a massacre worth! I wanted to include some things that reward the little things both in games and as a tourney attendee that make things easier for the organizers and the players... it all adds up

(without having to win even one game!) It will be exceedingly difficult for people to get 20 comp anyways... so you're probably looking at even less of a difference than you think....

Ok that's a great idea shannon.
oh and i think i misread part of the comp rules, is it over three units that normaly arn't troops you do the extra -2, like if i have three elite units (warbands) as troops they dont take a comp hit? or is it -6?

they basically count as their original slot... so if they're elite - first elite choice is free, second is -1... third is -2.... (and every choice after that in the slot is also -2 if you can take a ton of elites I guess)
re the t-shirts - Tommy's our design guy... the website logo (the green dice and "Kingston Warhammer") is going to be on the front - standard front logo on the left pocket area...
on the back... not entirely sure... our website address is kind of clunky but might work...
open to suggestions for sure.... big pictures on the shirt will cost more $$ I'm guessing... so probably something simple to start with and we'll go from there....
