We may have to beg borrow and steal a little bit... okay not steal How about this idea.... Does anyone have enough terrain of their own to be able to set up a table? (it's easier for one person to do one table then mix and match if possible - that way stuff won't get lost!) If there was enough interest we could perhaps have a prize for best terrain/table as well? (if enough people have terrain or are in the mood to makes some?) Could even make it something cool... like a product prize or something

I have some of the old GW foam ruins I can bring along with some Mordheim terrain and a few forest templates with trees. Should be able to do a table or 2 with that

I've added the comp scoring (still tentative as discussion is still open in the other thread for final adjustments) - basically it was buried in the other thread so not so easy to find if you didn't know where to look. To discuss the merits / adjustments of the comp system go here: kingstonwarhammer.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=discussion40k&action=display&thread=1770&page=9#ixzz1h6m6BQtxAnyone planning on bringing terrain PLEASE ensure that you have a way of recording what you brought and keeping track... that's why setting up an entire table is best if possible - MUCH easier to ensure none of your awesome stuff is misplaced! (I won't be able to keep track of this part... WAY too much stuff involved) Update: - got some quotes on some SWEET trophies out of a place in Toronto - got a local name who's probably going to be our t-shirt guy, if the price point can be worked out effectively... does nice work - still waiting on the scenario disc from the guys at Astro...

A few concerns: Ref the T-shirt issue (and yes I'm admittedly not a fan of it but will go with the majority):
1) The first point has already been identified by you Shannon (I believe) - a person drops out and is replaced by another person that now is paying for a T-shirt that is not their size. Apart from being an irritant, might this discourage someone from joining late to fill an empty spot?;
2) Right now everyone is gung-ho for the tourney but when it comes to the actual weekend, some people may not be able to attend - this happens at most tourneys for many reasons - family issues, job issues, etc. If we start with 24 and only 16 show up - how does that affect money for prizes/trophies vs T-shirts? I'd rather have the money spent on prize support than T-shirts or possibly spending prize/trophy money on extra T-shirts should fewer people show up than planned.
On another note, I was looking over the additional tourney info you put in the first few spots of this thread and am wondering whether we need 1 bonus point per game that each person can give to their opponent for a "great game/fun game/ because I enjoyed myself". Isn't this covered by sportsmanship already? Just want to simplify were possible.

Another point ref the painting scoring system.
The system from Astro is very comprehensive but I wonder if its to much for our tourney. It was already identified that an army only needed to be half painted (unless I'm mistaken) to play in the tourney. So how is an army to be judged by this system? If I spend time painting the whole army to 3 colours will I score less than if I only paint 51% 3 colours and leave the rest grey plastic but add some more colours and/or detail or maybe add green stuff, etc? Not trying to be a pain but I'm unclear how this will be judged. I believe if I got my army painted to 3 colours+ I would likely get maybe 3 points out of 30.
Also, seeing that painting is 30 points and the games are only 10 points each and comp is 20 points, painting is such a large chunk for the good/expert painters that worrying about comp seems almost irrelevant. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems that someone who is a good painter/modeler has a huge leg up on best army and best overall because the painting score applies to both and the weighting will create a large divergence between the good modelers and the rest - almost ensuring they'll be out of the running. Perhaps I'm missing something - so by all means everyone throw your 2 cents in and correct me if I've gone off the deep end.

that a good question like if you have 50% of your army expertly painted does that get you 15 points or 30 points

re painting - if you have 100% of your army painted and converted to the highest standard, you can possibly score 30 points. If you do the same level and have 50% of your army painted, well the max it would seem possible to score would be 15... because half your army would get 30, and half zero... so that would be an average score of 15. 75% expertly painted (but then the question would be - why didn't you finish it???) would put your score higher... etc. basically taking the averages... so if you paint 100% of your army, you're pretty much guaranteed to get a higher score than someone who doesn't.... even if they're a better painter than you! (this will also mean the person who wins best army is going to be someone with a fully painted army) re t-shirts - If you drop out of the tourney after a certain point, (the point at which tshirts are ordered) you bought a t-shirt. when it comes time to order the shirts, if there is spots left, a few extra tshirts are being ordered anyways (because reaching 30 shirts gives a discount on the batch, which we want anyways!) I'll likely order an extra of each of the most common sizes. if you sign up late (after the order goes in) there'll be a tshirt that will most likely fit... or might be a bit big (in the case of our smaller gamers).... I'd love it if everyone who signs up shows up... but I know that's not realistic... there's some pretty common trends with the sizes.... we'll have something in a person's size if they sign up late. This won't detract from the prize pool unless something really unfortunate happens (1/2 the people drop out at the last minute and simply refuse to purchase the shirt) but I'm not anticipating that... Looking at the signup sheet now, the people that I know will either be there for sure... or will ensure that the shirt is at least paid for if they drop out after the deadline. - once I get the final quote from all the suppliers we go with, I'll have this "withdraw no penalty" deadline posted.... as I looked around at the bigger tournies this was a pretty standard thing to do... because the tshirt order is big enough, having a couple shirts spare is not really going to impact things to a huge extent... (plus that means that someone isn't there to win that really cool prize you want - increasing your odds! - how's that for looking on the bright side? ) @ terrain offers - I forgot to mention this... (so appreciative of the terrain offers if need be) I don't know for certain we won't have enough terrain - this is just an erring on the side of caution thing... there may be a good chance that you haul in terrain and we might not need it... I think I'm going to go in the night before and set up all the tables... (makes a less early morning for Mike too!) so if there's a last minute desperate call for terrain, you'll see it here! Bonus points - you can give out your bonus point for anything be it "wow he let me go back and redo my shooting phase!" "that conversion is freaking fantastic!" "he bought me a cookie", "what a fast player he moved 300 orks in minutes".... basically its a albeit small reward you can give your opponent for anything you like.... anything they do to make the game fun either by gameplay, their army, their army list... whatever... so think of it as the ability to give an extra pip of sports, comp, painting... whatever you like... sportsmanship is going to be fairly basic - problem is, with a general sports score, people around here (cuz we're nice and cool like that) generally give top marks to everyone! - last 40k tourney the difference between top sportsman and bottom was something like two points (it might have even been one point).... this is just an extra measure that you need to think about your game... like we used to do with "honor points" at previous tournies....
