after increasing my trygon count to two, my trygons still has no luck. as of yesterday, both of them bit the dust before they hit combat. I have a few solutions...... a: replace tyrannofex with tervigon for more synapse and FNP, use excess points to give regen/prime to trygons cons: need to buy more termagants, cannot consistantly defeat heavy mech without tyranno. B: C: wait.. looks I have only one thought out so far.... more will be added.. LOL thoughts on reasons and solutions?

Point A is what Shannon does. Works really well.
One thing to note about 40k, is that you will always lose units, especially really your deadly ones that attract tons of firepower.
You could always try Deepstriking the Trygons as well.

the thing with point A is that I am already using a tervigon, as far as I know, shannon only takes one tervigon, not 2. deep strike.... it's possible, but mishap will just throw 200 points if not more down the drain, plus, it cant assault

Shannon takes 2 Tervigons, most people take 2 tervigons. It's just part of playing the dex

alright, I'll look into that.. however, I DO need to figure out a way so my trygon may deep strike in safely

Deep striking safly can be done easy. If u don't put it near anything. But there there is no reward. The bigger the reward usually the more risky it will be. The thing is being an mc it autopasses urs dangerous terrain tests.

I lose my Trygon in EVERY game I play with one...
...all part of the plan...
part of running a Trygon is insurance for the rest of your heavy hitters, as if your opponent does not deal with the Trygon it seriously messes up anything it hits... (just don't use them to chase rhinos... seriously... make what it kills count!)
my other list I run primarily uses three Trygons... love the model and the rules and pretty much everything about it... my favourite MC bar none... however, I also run two tervigons for the FNP on them... makes them MUCH more survivable...
One tervigon can work, but you have to ensure that you either deepstrike both trygons (which if you have a hive commander tyrant is a good method, as both will be coming in on a 2+ turn two).. that gives your opponent exactly ONE turn to drop two trygons... seriously, good luck doing that... it's extremely difficult! Then you're not relying on your tervigon to stay close enough to buff them, and it can either give itself the FNP (a good choice if it's central to your plans) or your Tyrant (making him a real pain to get rid of.
Nids are about target saturation... make your opponent have to react to the threats in his face.. get up close and personal FAST when you have Trygons.... Any turn they're not in combat is a turn they're vulnerable...

alright, turns out trygons cant mishap, at least the same way that pods cant the thing is I dont have any extra termagants to spawn... which sucks...... is it still worth it to take them? or should I stick with my current build? for the december tourney, im considering the following: -keep my build as it is, 1 tervigon, 2 trygons, 1 tyrannofex. -turn tyrannofex into tervigon, problem being reduced anti-tank and that the tervigon cant do much except give FNP -keep my build, but deep strike with trygons *can outflankers arrive in the trygon hole?* -take out tyrannofel altogether, increase ymgarl count, run more hormagants, run some genestealers. thoughts?

Being as this tournament is in less than a week, which of those options requires the least amount of work?
As much as I would love to recommend swapping the Tfex to a Terivgon, you are the one who needs to make the choice. Not having any guants to spawn defeats 1/3 of the point of bringing a tervigon (the other 2 being that the Tervi is scoring, and gives out FNP)

If you are having the tervigon not be scoring and have no gaunts to spawn, then take the t-fex...
outflankers can't arrive in the trygon hole... the trygon hole is a useless ability... and won't ever happen if you have hive commander....

decisions decisions...... right now, im on the fence about that.. it's true that it defeats the whole point of a tervigon if it's non-scoring and has no gaunts might as well stick with the T-fex, but then my trygons wont have points for adrenal+regen a possibility is that for this torney, I wont take the pod, split my termagants into 2 broods of 10, take 2 scoring tervigons, and with the 15 termas im borrowing, I shouldnt miss out on TOO much spawns thoughts?

i think thats a pretty good idea, lots of troops, adrenal on trygons will help vs vechiles and other mc's. the regen will help vs ap3 or better stiff vs your trygons.
now the trygon hole could work if you have units in reserve who aren't outflanking right? so if there are escalation missions and such it might help get closer. it keeps your options open

I posted about spinegaunts in the other thread (because I have some of those too) but you have to check whether they can be substituted because spinegaunts are still actual choices (though nobody would use them that way).

spinegants should be fine between dropping the pod, devourers on the gants,I got enough points for regen on trygons, more ymgarls, maybe even some more upgrades on the tervigons. and since the gants are o the board first turn, they should die fast enough for me to spawn them, I would miss a lot, but oh well

in your mind, which is better: carnifex with dual TL devourer in a pod trygon with toxin sacs
