So after looking at Shannon's list a couple more times I'm starting to wonder about running two Hunters, probably not upgraded to Exarchs. They'll bring an absolute ton of anti-most things firepower to the table, and having a second one gives you pretty good odds that you'll at least get one pass on an enemy flyer if they have one. If they get loose on an enemy without adequate anti-air as well they'll be really brutal.
Worst case scenario is obviously 1 comes on turn 2 and is shot down by Interceptor fire, repeat with the second on turn 3, but if both get in on the same turn odds are at least one will get a successful attack run in.
Also, if running two of them, what about the Starcannon option for the Exarch? Still reasonable against light flyers thanks to the re-rolls to damage, and makes him an infantry shredding machine...you'd probably want the Marksman upgrade on that guy.

I would never take Starcannons on the Hunter. If I wanted an anti-infantry Flyer the Hemlock is FAR better than a Hunter with Starcannons based on the Mindshock Pod alone. Heck with Marksman you can Precision Shot Instant Death T4 models (IE a huge range of HQ/Warlord choices) which makes keeping those Lances even more important on a Hunter.
2 Hunters is an interesting Experiment tho, through I feel it's a little bit overkill given that an army that is able to deal with 1 Hunter, is likely to be able to deal with 2.

All of those thoughts kind of mirrored my feelings, but I might be interested in trying it out....time to cut out a new flyer base and stick that foam Helldrake on it!
Speaking of, is there anything you want me to test out specifically? I'm looking at putting a new list together and would be up for giving something a test-run.

Personally I'd love to know how War Walkers do! So your already on that by the sounds of it. I don't think either of us have tried Rangers through, I'd like to see how a large unit of them does as a Backfield Objective Sitter, given how cheap they are, I'd like to see how they compare with scouts once the new Marine dex drops.
Other than that I think most of the options outside of the elite slot have been tested by at least one of us. I'm becoming more and more curious about unit combinations as opposed to individual units, and I'm finding the old early 3rd Ed Hammer/Anvil really showing some new tricks. So I'm curious to try a Rapier list one of these days and see what pure blazing speed/firepower can do. I told myself "if the Avatar is failing I'll switch to a Solitare or pull out a PL" and every game the Avatar continues to impress me so far. Fearless Bubble and his impressive statline is just too good to ignore.

Have you tried putting Jain Zar with a unit of Scorpians? On the charge, her mask reduces init and Weapon Skill by 5. I'm thinking this might make the scorps much more survivable for a round, granted they get the charge off.

On another whacky note, Because the Wraithknight is a Jump MC, it has the deep-strike special rule and therefore can choose to deep-strike... (um... what?) It can also choose to move 6 in the movement phase and then re-roll it's charge distance in the assault phase just like a marine with a jump pack would. cool.

Does this mean it can move 12 inches in movement? :c

I think the unit of 3 DualScatter Warwalkers I tried out against Matt would have been amazing had it not been for my dice saying otherwise (21 hits against a WaveSerpent and not a single 6 to glance was rolled one round of shooting :S)
Mind you that's as Allies for Dark Eldar, so for me the Dual Brightlance is a bit overkill when I'm also running 3 Ravagers with Triple Dark Lances.

I actually did try a unit of 10 rangers in my tournament list. They were solid against the Daemons when there was some tough stuff to shoot, against the Guard they effectively just camped on an objective, and in the last game they ate fire for a turn from a drop podded marine squad before Azrael ate them.
All in all I like having them in the list, it's really nice when you get Spearhead deployment to be able to put them into an unoccupied quarter, and occasionally outflanking them isn't even a bad choice depending on where enemies/objectives are. I'm not really sold on them yet, honestly. I DO like the sniper rifles for dealing with MC's, and the thought of enemy Wraithknights and Riptides will likely keep them in, but with the new Shuriken rules they're much less needed against MC's. Pinning is always nice though, and they're pretty cheap and cheerful for a scoring unit with stealth. I'm actually probably going to try out an Alaitoc themed list very soon, Rangers, Walkers of various armaments (I own like 9 or 10) and a seer council, go very light and see how it goes.

Hizack: Yes they can normally move 12". kegcarrier: I haven't tried out that maneuver yet, no, but certainly considered it. It's too bad I hate Jain Zar's model more than any of the other Phoenix Lords. I'm really thinking Scorps are going to be a solid delivery system for most of the Phoenix Lords, and the Exarch can eat most challenges and win, letting the Phoenix Lords total units. I'm actually really tempted to try out Asurmen here soon, and also very much want to try out Maugan Ra in a guardian blob....I think he could be very very dangerous that way.

Ugh, a unit that sized/strong should not be able to move 12" assault 12".
Though, that's my own opinion.

Seems like they fixed up most of the bugs. The Wraithknight, Wraithlord and Dark Reaper profiles/upgrades are all fixed.
Not sure if this is from a supplement or something, but the Crimson Hunter got an upgrade added called "Fighter Ace", and it has a reference to a Pg number in a book anagrammed as DFTS. Is that Death From The Skies? It's far more points than I think is worth putting on a hunter, but I'm assuming those tables are for Apoc/Ariel battles etc?

yep, that's death from the skies... and fighter ace really isn't worth the points...

What does it even do? He's good enough against fighters.
