sorry scott... no can do... GW has changed WHFB...
the FAQ is updated, so unless we don't follow everything else in the FAQ we can't just throw out some of it.
if someone chooses to not use the 50% that's fine (I'm for example not going to, I need more bodies with ogres as it is... not much chaff to cut to get anything worthwhile) if someone chooses to go more heroes/lords well that's fine too

Are you authorizing Nagash? because is kinda over the top and can ruin a tournament easily...

if someone's crazy enough to bring 50% of their army in one model that can die to a cannon, not sure that can ruin a tournament very easily...

Ok well I wont because Hes the reason why I stop playing 40k because of stuff retarded like him... but Im telling you we have experience with him here and hes going to be ban from most tournament... With a casket and a hierotitan hes unstapobable and trust me your cannon will be dead second turn if not first watch a couple BR and you will see when a good player like Frank for example is playing him hes just insane...

no one here has run him yet so we don't have any experiences with anyone powergaming and ruining people's experiences (in fact I've yet to seem him played at all) or really any other broken combos. (hence why our 40k tournies also don't get wrecked this way - people here have some form of restraint) I don't even know if he's legal for regular play or not as I don't have the book. I only consider banning something if it's absolutely necessary and a problem. (and generally I just ask Frank - is this as crazy as I think? - he usually reins in my panic pretty quick!) thus far we've only a few "house rules" and it's around magic and giving your characters a Look Out Sir roll to big save or die spells (so you at least have a chance vs. dwellers) Given you're a (former) 40k player you should know that if GW starts introducing something into the game pushing in a certain direction (superheavies, fortifications, fliers for 40K) all the banning in the world won't change anything over time as if they want something in the main rules it will be as they just change the main rules. End times is the direction for WHFB as far as I am aware (and all rumours point) and 50% lords/heroes is FAQ'd into the main rules of the game. Do I think it's a good move? well I don't know, I'm not a game designer... I'm still one to point out how unbalanced and broken the magic system is after all... but I certainly don't have enough information at this point to start saying what should and shouldn't be in the game. That's what I have Frank for lol

If the Undead Legion list is allowed, then Nagash is allowed. He is a SC from that army list. Scott has mentioned that he played him and it was a little ridiculous. When you can summon ~1000 points in 1 decent magic phase, getting taken out by a cannonball is less important. Remember he triples points value AND range of summoning, so if Nagash gets first turn he can just summon units in your back line or summon a bunch of flyers. I don't think anyone so far is planning to bring him but him and the Mortarchs can be a little over the top.

oh for certain, you summon something you're giving VP to your opponent if it dies... and given this is a VP only tourney, summoning spam seems like a real risky play for sure...

Problem is though with Nagash is summon spam results is deathstar units. With +5 to cast, needs an 11 on the dice to raise a 450 point infantry/MI/Cav/MCav/Chariots within 36". Even if you get VP from it, you can raise units that people cannot possibly break through in 1 or 2 turns, and he can put them in all the right places. Imagine turn 1, summoning 100 Skeleton Warriors 1" away from your opponent. That unit now either has to charge into the skeles or move and get charged next turn.
Again just speculating on what could be done, but to me the 3x points AND 3x range make him insane against anyone without cannons. Even with cannons though you need an average of 4 or more hits against him to take him out due to the 4++ and 7 wounds. The Mortarchs are still good, but only 2x points and 2x range is much more reasonable to deal with, and they aren't quite as monstrous in combat as Nagash.

Most tournies have some limitations and SC's are often at the top of the list. Remember Teclis of old in a unit with the BoWD? There was a good reason why he was banned from everything except hardboyz or similar events. If most players/armies were able to deal with Nagash, then it wouldn't really be a problem but at 2500 points and with current rules/books, there is nothing out there short of a purpose built army or empire character with the speculum that can deal with him. Toss in a hierotitan & casket and Nagash can overwhelm any magic defence starting on turn 1 and spawn an extra army of special/rare troops virtually unopposed that are ready to wreck face anywhere within 36". Since our goal is to have fun and getting crushed from 36" away with no ability to prevent it really isn't too sporting, my vote is to not allow Nagash on Nov 9th.
