yeah I figured as soon as I unloaded my trygons they'd get a buff... lol

seems like raiders got a big boost in survivability and some bonuses for combat (pistols shooting out of it) as well as fast shooting (no -1 for heavy weapons after moving). Venoms actually having a chance to hurt everything with poison is nice...
...however I think we can safely extrapolate that poison doesn't wound vehicles on a set number, despite the wounds/toughness values, as it says venoms can hurt vehicles on 6's... but hey, that's better than not at all right?
oh and lances and disintegrators sound pretty amazing... along with incubi!

They said that was a rule for open topped vehicles, so that's something a lot of armies can look forward to. That said, the Dark Eldar will be in a pretty good place with the new vehicle rules, and the overhaul of the combat (Fight?) phase. Dark Lances, and Disintegrators seem pretty much unchanged in use, but (I'm assuming) Skimmers not suffering the hit penalty for moving, and shooting is pretty damn boss. I'm honestly a little sad that Dark Lances didn't get a strength boost though. If they're only S8, that means they're wounding most big vehicles on a 4+ at best. I'm going to assume that 8th is going to see a resurgence in heavy armour, so that's going to hurt a little bit, since now most combat weapons are going to be balls-useless against tanks. Remember kids, you're hitting toughness now, and there's no such thing as paper-thin rear armour. Even Power Fists (unless they're changed) will be hitting at S8. That's taking them from a 2+ against big tanks, to a 4+ instead. |

To be fair, they're only glancing heavy armor on a 4+ now... doing D6 wounds with a -4 rend is pretty sweet (ignores all but a 2+ armor) and zipping around with no negatives to the shooting is also nice...
A ravager is going to rip a dread apart pretty easily though... which it should!

Nifty. I like the streamlining. It makes it very easy to remember to hit, wound etc .
I have to admit the trickle of info is starting to grow tiresome. I want less foreplay and more intimate substance. I want to see point values and example armies...

I’m part of an Imperial Knights group on FB (mainly for conversion ideas) but there’s 2 main mentalities out there right now, either ignoring that 8th is even happening or crying because “my knight will get killed by lasguns”. There’s a really sad portion of us that are liking what we’re seeing and are being optimistic about the changes being made. Just reinforces my belief that a person alone can be reasoned with but a group of people are barely better than a herd of angry caged animals. |
