I based my guess on the Dark Vengeance (65 GBP, $130 CAD). I think they'll want to keep it under the $150 mark because it's a starter set. They also confirmed that the models were push fit.

Well that price would be the entire box set... they are selling the rule book separately, on the same day, they said it in the link above... ...GW just gives such a deal on the mins on their box sets lately that seems to be what most people run to - I'm thinking the box set will hit $180 CAD... hardback rules $60... softback index books I think will be the $35 mark (judging from their AOS pricing for boohks and their recent box sets of similar sizes and the rough GBP comparables) I wiffed my reading comprehension test pretty hard on that one. I retract me previous statement regarding pricing. I would still like to see the rules decoupled from the rest of the fluff however.

They did that for 7th. The mini dark vengeance rulebook was just the rules.

Ya seeing that forgeworld slate without having a point value listed is scary. That thing looks like a beast....
No if the power level tool is anything to balance with, then they think that 10 rubric marines fulled armied is on the same level as this (PL 8 for 5)

The leviathan’s weapons are right on par with what they were before. The claw had a rule that any model that suffered an unsaved wound from it automatically took an additional d3 wounds, giving it a flat wound count now with AP -3 at least gives you the option to save it instead of just eating 1+d3 S8 Ap2 wounds…per hit…
The siege drill got better in the sense of it wounds more now but it also doesn’t affect tanks or fortifications any better than an infantry model (previously was armorbane, wrecker (re-roll pens on fortifications)
The grav flux bombard hadn’t gotten rules in 40k so there’s no comparison there but the butcher cannon is on par with a 7th ed butcher cannon, just slightly less useless as it causes a negative to morale. This guy was also 285 points base in 7th, and to make him survivable you had to add ceramite plating which no longer exists. 14 wounds isn’t bad as it had 4 hull before and will have less wounds than a land raider which had the same hull points. It also no longer has a 4++ to fall back on unless in melee.
Really it all boils down to the points… This could be really balanced if it’s costed accordingly, if it costs just shy of a knight still then yes I can see it making sense, if it’s like 200 points and a knight is still 320-370 then no, FW will have missed the mark.

Yah, a 2+/5++ going to a 4++ in melee is pretty dang good. Small arms will do near nothing to this guy. Excited to see the points cost.
Disappointing that the xenos books are coming out at the end of June. That means I won't have rules for a bunch of my stuff until mid to late July, once you account for shipping.

Who knows. With all that we have yet to see this type of thing might be status quo.
I do love the look of the data sheets. Now if we could see some points...
