With Las cannons like that. Terminators ( 2+ armour not storm shield) have 1/3 of a chance to save. And 1/6 of a chance not to be instant killed if they fail the save.

Which is slightly better than now.

They currently have a 33% chance to save vs. a lascannon. However, that's all they get.
With the new system there's an even 33% chance to kill a single terminator as there is to kill a unit of 3. (Going by the default chaos termie unit size.) That said, if you happen to deal 6 wounds on your roll, they then each have a 33% chance to save each wound. On anything less than a max damage roll from the firer, their survivability goes way up but it's not a simple equation anymore which I like.
There isn't any "I fire X lascannons and should do Y wounds to that unit" you may flub the shit out of those damage rolls or boxcar them (much to the chagrin of your opponent). The random wounds I think is a cool new variable.

Ya seeing something big like a lascannon is only a -3 gives me hope. I mean a fire warrior in cover 4+ to 3+ can still have on a 6+.
Flamer also seems really cool. The other thing im interested in seeing is does damage roll threw a squad or stop on a single model. IE a lascannon can kill 3 terminators or does it really kill a single one.
I know AOS damage rolls threw squads and no more than a single model can have a wound on it at a time. so no wound shuffling but with special weapons and heros and such we will see.

That said, obliterators (and Lascannon havocs/devastators) just got hateful; 4D6 wounds at a -3 save on the unit from havocs or 3D6 from Obliterators.
Edit: Wounds are currently handled unit by unit so I can't see them changing that. You'd still deal X wounds to the unit, which they'd have to save, removing models as they go.

Watch out, weapons like lascannons wound on a per-model basis. One lascannon shot can only kill one model, even if it's shooting at guardsmen.

Ahhh, I see, so you’d have D6 chances to vaporize 3-4 targets. Lol, D6 wound Lascannons for when that ONE guardsman just absolutely has to die no matter what.

But saves are made before wound multiplication. Historicly anyway.
Who knows with the new edition.

But saves are made before wound multiplication. Historicly anyway. Who knows with the new edition. Not always, there are cases where wounds duplicate and are saved separately, such as Rad Carbines. *edit* though this is me being pedantic.

no, it says right in the link... you deal the damage to one target and even uses the example of shooting a lascannon against an ork or guardmen being a complete waste because it will just kill that one target. but as a GSC player I gotta say, going to be awful nice actually getting an armor save vs. bolters

If AoS is a guide than the process will follow
1. roll to hit 2. round to wound 3. Save 4. wound multiple 5. INVUL/ dodge/ holy intervention/ etc are made
If this is the case it could be something like lascannon hits lord, lord gets 5+ and fails, taking 4 wounds he then has a 5+ invul, him MUST roll 4 5+ to avoid all those wounds. so still good for getting rid of that single target.
Also wouldn't be surprised if some of the big stuff like Landraiders have a " this model halves the number of wounds rounding up" So lascannon hits landraider for 4 wounds and it takes 2...but this is speculatuions

they said landraiders would have "dozens" of wounds... so they're going to be actually difficult to remove now... you know... something actually useful that can't be just one shotted.
