While any of these changes/ideas depend on execution, I like lots of the ideas - at least it appears that GW is trying to over haul the mess of 40K. And including community playtesters is a good sign IMO (sure they might not listen to them but I'll give GW the benefit of the doubt and wait for the rules/dex/whatever to drop).

I like how the new cover works and that high powered weapons can ignore it.

pistols can shoot in close combat... cool!
falling back out of combat with a unit so another can shoot... also cool!
no snapping heavy weapons if they move, just a -1 to hit... seems to make sense
certain unit types can't benefit from certain cover eh.... poor nids....

I guess in AoS monsters cant get cover. Id also think that there will be a soft vs hard cover mechanic like +1 to save, +2 to save kinda deal

Mostly the same.
Still 12 inches. Still 2d6 still fire over watch still on 6s.
But no need to be in base to base 1 inch away is all good.
Can do multiple over watches until you are tied up in combat.

Can do multiple over watches until you are tied up in combat. that is absolutely huge for Tau

If they still get the overwatch for each other. Which I assume will be taken away cause that would be broke as hell.

Can do multiple over watches until you are tied up in combat. that is absolutely huge for Tau Not really, it just stops people from dummy charging a single model to "eat the overwatch" thus keeping an un-damaged unit safe. And yes, I'd imagine that supporting fire will be a thing of the past as that'd be all kinds of broken.

yes... which is huge, assuming supporting fire remains (which I'm assuming at this point it will as until I hear any different I'm not going to automatically assume all special army abilities are gone!)
common (ie: one of the only!) anti-tau tactic for close combat armies is to stagger multiple charges in to lower the threat of overwatch with msu/depleted units. With that not being a thing anymore, that's a lot of potentially devastating multiple overwatch attempts.
