1. Decide upon the ideal deployment for your Kroot. Then you can consider the rest of the army.

The best tip for tau is to leave them in a box and get yourself a better army

2. Have a backup plan for when the enemy is ready to engage you in CC. This can involve blocking tactics to delay engagement or an escape plan such as a devilfish...
3. Target priority is very important. Prioritize the mobility of your opponent's army.

A buddy of mine modeled a fire warrior curled into the fetal position blind firing a carbine, it was hilarious.

The ethereal is also really good because of CC, you can reroll failed or PASSED moral checks, which means your one firewarrior is probolly not going to double 1's and hold up an angry unit of termies just to let them avoid shooting and charge again on thier turn

Quite a gamble even having the Ethereal even poke his head onto a battlefield in the first place, though.

I've never played against and never have used but I hear they aren't to hard to beat. If here as easy as necrons it must be simple

Ummm, Tau built and played properly can quite handily table alot of armies... Jon's Tau are a force to be reckoned with... and Tommy's Tau have done very well indeed.... (two I've seen that come to mind as doing quite well) Problem is that playing Tau is difficult and they are an army that takes alot of finesse to do properly... but they have some very powerful tools at their disposal... underestimate them at your own peril.... properly built necrons can also be very difficult to deal with... they just don't have as many tools, and there are things built into the army that trick you into poor list building
